About

This datafield app adds a navigation field to your application that provides a bearing (direction to a waypoint or start point), velocity made good (VMG) and distance to a waypoint. This is a simplified version of https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/e486c0c9-ba0c-4197-925b-a21bc65806f5 with a single waypoint that uses your current location and will navigate you to that point. There are no routes, only a single waypoint. The idea behind this is mostly for water sports where there is a turning buoy or an entrance that you want to optimize your path to that point. The arrow on the screen will show you the best way to turn to point towards that waypoint based on your current heading. You can use the default mode or Latitude = 0 and Longitude = 0 in the settings which will use your starting point as your destination waypoint. So as you move away it will compute VMG and heading back to the start and distance. So you can travel 5 miles for example then turn around 180 and see the VMG go positive and the heading to the waypoint point towards where you started. However the more common method is for you to set your own waypoint using Garmin Connect App or Garmin Express to set the values of this datafield. The default mode works well for simple out and back activities however your velocity made good and heading will be negative and -180 heading until you turn around and start to return back to the start. If you want to set a specific turn around point, get the latitude and longitude for that point (in decimal degrees, i.e. 45.3398 and -120.304) which can be taken from most online mapping tools like google maps. See the video a similar datafield with more display options for details on how to install and use these two different modes. Brought to you by http://HIpressure.tech
