Race Guide
· v1.9
About
The "Race Guide" data field was developed to provide you with information on dangerous spots, feed stations, transfer stations, mountain and sprint classifications as well as your own "points of interest" during a race or cycling marathon in realtime.
While the popular "stem stickers", which many cyclists stick on their top tube, can give you a good overview of the stages of the race, the Race Guide data field also answers the following questions in real time:
How far is it to the next aid station, danger spot, etc.?
What are they called and what do I need to watch out for?
Which stations are still ahead of me?
What is my current position on the route?
If you have a newer Edge device (Edge 540, 550, 840, 850, 1040, 1050), you will receive a "toast" notification 300m before a station.
The race information is stored as text on the Connect IQ configuration page of the data field. The text format must follow defined rules.
For example, the information on the Kitzbühel Cycle Marathon can be entered as follows:
015 M Pass Thurn;
048 T Wald im Pinzgau;
059 F Gerlos;
086 T Zell am Ziller;
116 F Kerschbaumer S.;
125 T Brixlegg;
162 F Breitenbach;
174 T ASBÖ Kirchbichl;
203 F Oberndorf;
209 C KRM Kitz;
215 F Knödelfleischgraben;
216 Z Kitzbüheler Horn;
Syntax of a line: NNNN.N T DESCRIPTION;
NNNN.N : Distance on route in km (0.0 - 9999.9)
T : Type of station (1 character, see below)
DESCRIPTION: Description of the station (0-n characters)
The line is ended with a semicolon (or alternatively with a backslash).
The following station types exist:
S: Sprint classification
M: Mountain classification
F: Feeding station
T: Transfer station
Z: Finish
!: Dangerous spot
*: Custom spot
The data field continuously determines the deviation from the navigation course. If this deviation exceeds 200 m, a warning symbol appears behind the kilometer display in the data field. The progress bar is also displayed in orange. Use the information displayed with particular caution.
=== IMPORTANT ===
The display of the data field is based on the distance covered (elapsed distance) and not on absolute GPS data. It can therefore only give you correct information if you do not deviate from the course during the race and your navigation device can correctly determine the distance covered. Please do not rely solely on the information displayed by the data field. Ride responsibly. As the developer, I accept no liability whatsoever for accidents that occur due to programming errors, incorrect configuration of the data field, operating errors or device errors. The use of the data field is always at your own risk.
