BAROGLASS

A recording weather glass. The needle is pressure tendency, the chart is your recent history, and the timestamp is the clock. BAROGLASS is a barograph for the wrist, and it tells the time the way a chart recorder does, by stamping it. A wide arc scale across the top is graduated in pressure tendency rather than absolute pressure, because the change is what forecasts weather. One bold needle reads the trend over the last three hours. Below the pivot, a strip chart window plots your recent pressure history, flanked by two engraved sub dials for Body Battery reserve and a daily totaliser. The time and date are stamped along the chart in plain figures. The instrument runs entirely on the watch barometer, so it keeps working with no phone and no signal. The chart line is drawn dashed to say exactly that: this is the watch's own record rather than a station feed. When there is no reading at all the needle rests at steady and is drawn hollow, so an instrument with nothing to say never pretends otherwise. Sensitivity, chart span and the right hand totaliser are all configurable, the way range and damping are set on a real barograph. The always on frame keeps the timestamp and the bare needle, with the scale furniture removed. Settings are available directly on the watch through the face's own menu, and also in the Garmin Connect phone app under Connect IQ Apps, Watch Faces.
