Vitamin D Estimate
· v1.0.0
About
This is a data field that can be added to an outdoor activity to estimate your vitamin D absorption based on the current UV index. This is an estimate only. It can't tell if there is shade, reflective surfaces, SPF lotion, etc. It will apply an age modifier, and attempt to guess the body surface area exposed based on outdoor temperature.
For help using data fields, see the Garmin support page for 'How Do I Enable a Data Field Downloaded from Connect IQ To My Watch?' (https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=gyywAozBuAAGlvfzvR9VZ8).
User birth date (if provided) is used to calculate age, which affects vitamin D absorption. For older watches that don't have UV index in the weather, it will request it from https://www.weatherapi.com/. If communication is not available, it will estimate UV index based on historical data for the current location, making modifications based on current altitude and cloud cover information (if available).
