Solar System Live + Tesla (App)

This is the successor of the "Solar System Live + Tesla" widget: Connect IQ 4+ watches have no widget loop any more, so the app comes as a new listing with a glance. Tesla Roadster (and Starman's) orbit included! Solar System Live displays the solar system as it is right now, and lets you zoom in/out and explore future/past. With Solar System Live, prepare for the upcoming space age by exploring and getting a better understanding of the solar system - or simply increase your situational awareness if you are a stargazer. Solar System displays the real-time position of the planets (Mercury to Pluto) and their orbits in the heliocentric frame, seen from above. Earth's Moon is displayed too, as well as the asteroid and Kuiper belts and, optionally, distances between planets. Zoom in and out, change the date, focus on a planet. Uses: - See which planets are in the night sky today or at any future/past date (a planet on the Sun's side of the Earth is up during daytime and not visible at night) - Understand why a planet is not observable and when it will become observable again (time-shift into the future) - Quickly evaluate launch windows to Mars and the other planets (conjunction-class and opposition-class missions) - The Earth's rotation axis (north pole) is drawn as a light pixel to explain the seasons: when the north pole points away from the Sun (Earth near 12 o'clock) it is December 21, winter in the northern hemisphere - Moon, Earth and Sun on one map explain the Moon phases - Be part of the space age with a solar system map on your wrist! Planet sizes are not to scale (display reasons). === INSTRUCTIONS === When the app starts, the inner solar system is shown from above for the current date and time. Press SELECT to enter the edit mode; SELECT again toggles between "Scale", "Date", "Distance" and "Focus" modes. "Scale": UP/DOWN zoom in and out. "Date": UP/DOWN change the date; the step depends on the zoom (4-year steps around Uranus/Neptune/Pluto, 1-day steps around Mercury). "Distance": pick a planet to display its distance to the others. "Focus": center the map on a planet. BACK leaves the edit mode. If you changed the date, it is displayed on the home screen; otherwise the map is live. MENU (long-press UP) opens the settings (labels, circular/elliptical orbits, distance unit, Tesla on/off, title on/off). Positions come from JPL/Standish orbital elements (valid 1800-2050) computed on the watch - no internet connection needed. The Tesla Roadster orbit was refreshed from JPL Horizons in 2026.
