Hiking Datafield/Datascreen - Metric Dark
· vv1-metric-dark
About
The custom data field displays:
Current Time — 12-hour format with AM/PM
Elapsed Activity Time
Distance — kilometers
Current Elevation — meters
Total Ascent — meters
Total Descent — meters
The field is designed to be used in a two-field activity layout. The native Heart Rate field can be assigned to the circular display, while this data field occupies the main display.

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
I’ve tailored this specifically to the two-field layout, where native Heart Rate field occupies the circular window.
Installation & Setup
After installing from the Connect IQ Store, add it as a data field to the activity you want to use, such as Hike. Connect IQ data fields can be added to the built-in activity data screens.
On your watch:
Hold MENU.
Select Activities & Apps.
Select your activity (for example, Hike).
Select the activity Settings.
Select Data Screens.
Select an existing screen or choose Add New.
Select Layout and choose the 2-field layout with the small circular field in the upper-right.
Select the main/larger field and choose Connect IQ → new file
Select the small circular field and choose native Heart Rate data field.
Return to the activity and start your activity normally.
Important: The heart-rate display in the circular window is native Heart Rate field and is not part of this datascreen. Users should configure Heart Rate separately in the second field.
The custom field itself provides current time, current elevation, distance, elapsed activity time, total ascent, and total descent.
Now if you start the activity (for ex, Hike) your display should show this new data layout!
To switch the heart rate monitor between light mode and dark mode follow instructions below. On the watch:
Hold MENU → Activities & Apps → Hike (or the activity) → Hike Settings → Background Color → Black/White
Note: The heart rate monitor color is controlled separately from the custom data screen.
