About

This is a Companion Data Field for the Event Support Tracker app for iPhone or Android. Event Checkpoint has no data of its own — plan your event on the phone, send it to your device, and this field takes over. How far and long to the next checkpoint? When do you have to get there? What is waiting for you when you do? All vital questions that you need an answer to when your tired. The app and this Data Field are built for ultras, audax and randonnées, sportives, multi-day tours, adventure races, charity rides, supported expeditions — anything where the route is punctuated by places you have to reach. Long events are run between checkpoints, not between miles. Event Checkpoint puts the only number that matters in front of you: how far to the next one. When your data field has the room, it adds more, in the order you care about them: 1/ ETA — a live arrival estimate from your current pace, so you know whether the crew waiting for you should start the kettle. 2/ Cut-off — time left before the checkpoint closes, turning red when it gets tight. Miss one and the field says so plainly rather than quietly counting backwards. 3/ Facilities — water, food, toilets, bag drop. Decide what to carry from here rather than what to regret at the next one. Notes — whatever the organiser or your crew wrote for that stop. e.g. "Change Shoes and Socks", "CP is on the left after the bridge." Reach a checkpoint and the device buzzes and says so, then moves itself on to the next. No buttons, no scrolling, nothing to remember at hour fourteen. Before you start the timer the field shows the event name, so you can confirm at the line that the right plan is on your wrist. How it works: your phone sends the event to the device over Bluetooth, once, before you set off. After that everything runs on the device. No cell signal needed, no internet, no server, and nothing is sent anywhere. Your position never leaves the device. Settings (in Garmin Connect): choose which extra lines you want, set the arrival radius, the cut-off warning threshold, arrival vibration and tone, and how long the device keeps an event after it finishes. Riding the same event twice? One tap puts you back at the first checkpoint without re-sending anything. Visit creedapps.uk for the user guide and further support.
