Unpause — Stop Reminder
· v0.5
About
Forgot to restart the timer after an aid station? Unpause watches for movement while your activity timer is stopped and reminds you to resume — so you never lose kilometers of your race again.
HOW IT WORKS
In your activity settings, add a new data screen with a single field and select Unpause for it (Data Screens → Add New → 1-field layout → Connect IQ Fields → Unpause). When you stop the timer and start moving again, it alerts with vibration and a tone every 5 seconds until you resume or stand still. Detection uses three independent signals, any one of which is enough:
• Leaving a 50 m radius around your stop point
• Sustained speed above 4 km/h
• Sustained cadence (walking counts)
The alert works no matter which screen is currently shown. It stops on its own when you stop moving, and re-arms — walking off again triggers it again. Resuming the timer always silences it.
THE OTHER HALF: FORGOT TO PAUSE
The mirror case. If the timer keeps running while you stand still — aid station, gear fumble, waiting for a friend — a gentler vibration reminds you after 20 seconds, so your moving time and pace stay honest. Switch it off if you don't want it.
ON SCREEN
• While stopped: a red stop-time counter plus live cadence/speed/distance
• While running but standing still: an amber counter toward the gentle alert
• While running: total stopped time, number of stops, longest stop
• With a course loaded: stopped time split between aid stations (near course waypoints) and everywhere else
SETTINGS (optional)
From Garmin Connect on your phone: one switch mutes every alert, or tune each one — how often it repeats, how long above 4 km/h before it triggers, the cadence that counts as walking, how long standing still counts as forgetting to pause. The defaults are the ones described above, so you can ignore all of it.
WHY A DATA FIELD
It runs inside your normal native activity — ClimbPro, PacePro, stamina, navigation and your usual data screens all keep working. Add the screen once and forget it until it saves your race.
NOTES
• Works best with GPS activities; without GPS fix, speed/cadence detection still works
• Aid-station split needs a course with waypoints loaded on the watch
• No data leaves the watch
What's new
HOW MUCH OF THE DAY YOU SPENT STOPPED
The running screen now shows total stopped time as a share of elapsed time — "total stopped 12.4%" — next to the counter that was already there. One number for how much of the race went into aid stations, gear fumbles and waiting, without doing the arithmetic afterwards.
It counts from the moment the activity starts and updates during a stop, so the figure you see while standing at an aid station already includes the stop you are in.
Everything else is unchanged.
