About

Web and more settings details: https://nioquant.com/coachpulse CoachPulse is an AI coaching data field for Garmin watches. It reads your biometrics during a workout (heart rate, pace, body battery, stress, and more) and delivers real-time coaching cues directly on your watch screen. No app switch, no phone unlock. You bring your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Google Gemini. Pick who coaches you from 7 personas: Supportive Partner, Drill Sergeant, Sports Scientist, Zen Master, Old-School Trainer, Hype Friend, or Race Tactician. Racing? Set a target distance and goal time and every cue tracks your live gap to the plan and your projected finish. Press the lap button for an instant read of your effort. Stop the timer and get a debrief with the takeaway that matters. And the coach remembers: notes from your last workouts feed into the next session briefing, so it knows how your training has been going. Note: Your own subscription to one of the AI models/APIs is required. How to use 1. Install CoachPulse from the Connect IQ store. 2. In the Garmin Connect app, add CoachPulse as a data field on any activity screen. 3. Open CoachPulse settings in the Connect IQ section and enter your API key, provider, and model. 4. Start your activity and swipe to the CoachPulse screen. It shows "Monitoring..." while idle and cues appear automatically when triggered. A full-screen single data field gives the most room for longer cues. What's new

v1.0.7: - Coaching Style renamed to Push Level, with the explanation that it controls how hard the coach pushes while Coach Persona controls the voice - The five levels sent to the AI reworded to pure training intensity so they no longer conflict with the persona v1.0.6: - Coach Personas (7 voices) - Custom Coach Notes free text - Race Mode with live ahead/behind and projected finish - Pre-workout briefing - Lap Coach talk-back (noted as off by default) - Workout debrief at stop - Coach memory across the last 8 workouts - Auto font size, with explicit sizes kept fixed v1.0.5: - Auto-retry with bigger token budget when a response gets cut short - Falls back to a smaller/cheaper model if retry still fails - Removed Opus and GPT Pro tiers to keep cost predictable - Removed GPT-5.6 Luna and Gemini 3.5 Flash (unreliable, silent truncation / 50-60x slower responses) - Fixed slow Gemini key validation hanging on "Checking..." v1.0.4: - New Font Size setting (Small/Medium/Large) - Updated model lineup across all providers, removed retired models - Fixed Gemini responses getting cut off mid-sentence - Fixed Gemini not detecting invalid API keys - Fixed Claude Sonnet occasionally dropping responses entirely v1.0.3: Improvements - API key validated at startup ("Checking..." shown); invalid keys (401/403) trigger setup immediately - AI prompt now includes full athlete profile (age, gender, height, weight, RHR, avg RHR, VO2max) - Heart rate zones now use sport-specific data via getHeartRateZones2 Fixes - Corrected HR zone boundary bug that caused zones to be reported one level too low v1.0.1: - All triggers (HR alerts, milestones, pace drop, periodic check-in) are now blocked until the activity timer is running; no AI calls fire on the pre-start screen - Periodic check-in interval now counts from the moment you press START, not from when the data field loads - Field shows "Awaiting Start" instead of "Monitoring..." while waiting for the activity timer to begin - HR buffer continues filling during pre-start so spike detection has an accurate baseline the moment the timer starts v1.0.0: - Real-time AI coaching cues directly on your Garmin watch screen - Supports OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and Google Gemini bring your own API key - 9 model options GPT-5.5 Pro / 5.4 mini / 5.4 nano, Claude Opus 4.7 / Sonnet 4.6 / Haiku 4.6, Gemini 2.5 Pro / Flash / Flash Lite - Configurable triggers workout start cue, km and time milestones, sustained effort check-in, pace drop alert, HR zone alerts - Session memory AI tracks its own cues across the activity to avoid repetition and build context - Coaching style (1 Relaxed to 5 Aggressive), recovery focus, and response length settings - Response length auto adapts to the data field slot size - Cooldown between cues (default 5 min) and optional periodic check-in interval - Session goal field describe your workout intent and the AI coaches toward it
