TileIQ - Get those tiles and those squadrats!
· v2.1
About
TileIQ is a data field that will help you hunt tiles, squadrats and squadratinhos!
Ahead of your ride/run/hike, select the tiles you want to hunt, and sync your device.
TileIQ will guide you to each tile, squadrat or squadratinho, and tell you precisely when you've entered one of them. No more missing a tile by a few meters because you turned around too soon!
To get started follow these simple steps (or watch the video tutorial):
- Install the data field and add it to an activity profile. ***On watches, full screen works best, but there's also a "Tiny mode" with minimal info displayed, for use in small fields, or overlaying on the map***
- Scan the QR code displayed by the data field, or head over to https://yauteiq.web.app/ on your phone (link not clickable? click on "Companion Hardware" at the bottom of this page)
- Select your tiles, either manually or from a Strava/Garmin/RideWithGPS route
- Hit the "Copy" button to copy the configuration data
- In the Garmin ConnectIQ app, select your device, then "Data Fields"
- Select TileIQ, then "Settings"
- Paste the configuration data you got from https://yauteiq.web.app/
- Sync your device
- Go get those tiles :)
PS : For best results, consider changing your Data Recording settings to "Every second". The "Smart recording" option runs the (very small) risk of having TileIQ telling you you just got a tile, but your device failing to save it to the activity.
Data Recording settings will typically be found under "Settings" then "System" on your Garmin Device.
What's new
Data field:
- Now with alerts! Your device will vibrate and chirp when you're entering a tile. This can be disabled from the settings. Note: this may not work on 100% of the devices.
Tile selection webapp:
- If you import your existing tile data from Squadrats, the tool will remember the data from one visit to the next (if you don't change smartphone/computer) and display the date the data was last imported. Warning: this data is not automatically refreshed when you collect new tiles out there. Simply export a fresh KML from Squadrats and import it in the TileIQ site to get the latest data.
