This version of the Sleep as Android garmin app enabled HRV collecting even this may cause crashes on some Garmin devices with a SDK bug described here:

If you see the IQ! crash please instead install the Sleep as Android NEW version instead! Please let us know in teh comments which devices HRV works on and which it does not. At the moment we know about HRV issues FR55 and indirectly we have issues reported from Fenix 8. Many thanks for your feedback.

1. Install "Sleep as Android" on your phone → https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.sleep.
2. Install "Sleep Watch Starter" on your phone → https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.watchsleepstarter.
3. Install THIS app on your Garmin watch.
4. In the Sleep as Android main app, select Settings → Wearables → Wearables → Garmin.
--- IMPORTANT NOTES ---
- ALARMS: Only work while a sleep-tracking session is active on the watch.
- BATTERY: You MUST whitelist Garmin Connect in your phone's battery settings to prevent disconnects (see: dontkillmyapp.com).
- HEART RATE: Enable this in the phone app under Settings → Wearables → Heart rate monitoring.
- TEST SENSOR: Please note that the "Test Sensor" feature is not supported on Garmin hardware.

BIG UPDATE. TL;DR: The app finally works!
BEWARE: Needs the latest Sleep as Android Garmin addon app on the
- Communication stability fix. We've found a workaround to Garmin's buggy communication stack. We've adding a fallback that uses a webserver running on the phone. This finally makes the commucation reliable and the app actually usable :)
- This also fixes the issue that alarm sometimes didn't work at all
