Station 8 Training - hybrid sessions on your Watch
· vv1.0
About
UNOFFICIAL APP - free, made for athletes, not affiliated with HYROX. See the full notice at the end.
Hybrid training is runs and efforts, alternating, never twice the same. Your watch should not ask you what you are about to do before you start. You press LAP, it counts the section.
TWO LIVE TIMERS, ALWAYS ON SCREEN
The one you are in right now, large and in white. The one before it, underneath, with its name. You never have to remember how long that last run took, and you never have to press anything to see it.
THREE TOTALS
Time running. Time working. Time since you started. That is the shape of a hybrid session in three numbers, and they sit at the bottom of the screen the whole way through.
BUILT FOR THE BOX, AND FOR RACES THAT ARE NOT OFFICIAL
No fixed script, no station names, no denominator: sections open and close as you go. It fits a coach-written WOD, a DEKA, a hybrid race that changed the order and the movements on purpose, and a relay leg where you work twice and wait in between.
HOW IT WORKS, IN TWO BUTTONS (START/STOP AND LAP/BACK)
START begins the session. LAP closes the section you are in and opens the next one, switching between run and effort. STOP opens a menu - resume, save, discard - so nothing is ever saved or thrown away by accident. Hold BACK to undo the last section: a sleeve brushing a button should not cost you a segment.
WHAT LANDS IN GARMIN CONNECT
One lap per section, labelled run or effort. Every kilometre and every effort with its own time, heart rate and calories, so the session reads like a session and not like one long block with pauses in it. Write what you actually did in the activity comment afterwards, on a real keyboard, whenever you like.
THE CALORIES ARE THE WATCH'S OWN
The watch cannot read a rower, a ski erg or an assault bike: no API exposes them, and there is no standard for those machines to broadcast. What you see is the watch estimate from your heart rate, and the screen says so - WATCH CAL, not CAL. It will not match the number on the machine, and now you know why.
THREE LAYOUTS, YOU PICK YOURS ON THE PHONE
A - the segment you are in fills the screen and everything else drops a rank. This is the default, and the only one that reads at arm's length in the middle of an effort. B - both timers the same size, if you want to compare as you go. C - the same big timer, with your run / effort split on the line underneath. Changing your mind is one tap in Garmin Connect, no reinstall, and there is only one app to keep up to date.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
It does not count your reps. Garmin does not expose rep counting to third-party apps, so no app can do it, and one that claims to is guessing. It does not read your machines. It does not know your programme - you do.
LANGUAGES
English, French, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese. Your watch language decides, there is nothing to set.
DOING THE OFFICIAL RACE?
Station 8 (unofficial HYROX Race app) is the other half of the pair, also free. Same engine, same screens - but it follows the fixed sequence: it counts your eight runs and eight stations, names the station coming up, and works out your transition time on its own.
PRIVACY
No account. No network call. Nothing to unlock, no trial, no paid upgrade. Nothing is collected, stored or sent anywhere.
