AllSkateNav is a complex, navigation-aware data field designed to eliminate the need to scroll through multiple screens. Due to memory and feature requirements, only the Fenix 5X is supported (see AllSkate for Epix users). AllSkateNav is designed by and for long-distance inline skaters, but it can also display running-related metrics. Cyclists owning a Fenix 5X may also find AllSkateNav useful if they don't require cadence or power metrics. AllSkateNav can be configured via Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express. When a computer or mobile device is not available, configuration options can be set directly on the Fenix 5X. This data field is not for the faint of heart, nor anyone whose eyes glaze over at the mention of the word "technology." :-) Having said that, if you're an endurance athlete with wheels (or running shoes) on your feet who appreciates the benefits of wearing a Garmin device on your wrist, then AllSkateNav may be for you.

Settings are configured via Garmin Express (on your computer) or Garmin Connect Mobile (on your mobile device). If necessary, settings can be configured directly the Fenix 5X by making temporary changes to the user profile weight/height. Changes made on the device will persist between activities. Help screens explain how to make configuration changes and show the current configuration settings.
The Skating activity type displays speed and ascent ratio, while Running displays pace and cadence. Auto-detection relies on the absence (Skating) or presence (Running) of cadence data. For proper operation your skating activity must be based on "cycling".
The 5-zone heart rate meter displays fixed zones based on 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90% of the user-configurable maximum heart rate. The 5 and 6-zone auto-calibrating meters and the stress zone display are proprietary in design, and respond dynamically to your heart rate in the current activity. They are most useful only after the activity has progressed enough for representative average and maximum heart rate values to be established for the current activity's conditions.
The battery run time estimate projects when the state-of-charge (SOC) will drop below 10%, and will typically understate the actual run time, especially at the beginning of an activity. It becomes more accurate as the activity progresses and as the SOC drops below 50%. No estimate will appear until the SOC drops by several percent.
