MetricManiac
· v0.2.1
About
Metric Maniac puts as much health and weather data around the clock as the
screen can carry, without turning the face into a wall of numbers.
**Six configurable data fields.** Three above the clock, three below. Each one
can show battery, heart rate, temperature, steps, calories, floors climbed,
active minutes or distance — or nothing at all, for a quieter face.
**A switchable chart panel.** A heart rate history chart, weekly step bars with
your daily goal, the current weather, or automatic: weather while the
observation is fresh, heart rate otherwise.
**Weekly steps at a glance.** Seven bars, Monday to Sunday, each as tall as that
day's step goal. The fill shows how far you got, it only takes on colour once
the goal is met, and today's label is bold white so it stands out immediately.
**Step goal ring.** The outer ring fills clockwise from twelve o'clock.
**Long-press the clock** to preview a different chart — weather by default —
for a few seconds, without changing your regular chart panel. Pick which
chart shows up in the settings, or turn it off.
**Sunrise and sunset** at the bottom, switchable off if you would rather have
the space.
**Weather from two sources.** By default it reads the forecast Garmin Connect
already synced to your watch — no API key, no network call from the watch face.
Optionally add a free OpenWeatherMap key for readings fetched every 15 minutes.
When the newest observation is over an hour old, the panel says so instead of
quietly showing yesterday's weather.
**Built for battery life.** The layout redraws once a minute. Seconds are drawn
in a clipped partial update of a few hundred pixels and are dropped entirely if
the watch reports the power budget exceeded. The weather request runs in a
background process, never in the draw path. On AMOLED watches, always-on mode
drops everything but the clock and draws it as a thin outline instead of solid
digits, so far fewer pixels stay lit while it is on your wrist.
**Themes.** Blue, green, orange or monochrome accents on a dark background, with
an optional accent-coloured clock and a checkerboard dimming mask for always-on
AMOLED displays.
**Tip:** A watch face is not allowed to switch the GPS on, so it only sees a
position for a while after a GPS activity. For reliable weather and
sunrise/sunset, turn on "Use manual location" in the settings and enter your
coordinates.
**Found a problem? Just leave a comment.** If anything is cut off, overlapping
or hard to read on your watch, or if something else does not behave the way it
should, please comment on this page. Your watch model and a short note on what
you see is all I need — I read every comment and will fix it as fast as I can.

What's new
**What's new (0.2.1)**
Heart-rate chart: dashed current-pulse line in the light accent colour, session
max with a heart on the left. Tactical theme goal-ring fill tuned darker. All
accent themes use their matching light accent on the chart highlights.
**What's new (0.2.0)**
Added Venu 2 / 2S / 2 Plus and Forerunner 955 / 955 Solar. New: long-press
the clock to preview a chart of your choice for a few seconds. Today's label
in the weekly steps and weather panels is now bold white instead of a small
underline, and the clock sits slightly higher on every device.
Initial release. Six configurable data fields, chart panel with heart rate
history, weekly steps or weather, step goal ring, switchable sunrise/sunset row,
four accent themes, metric and statute units, three languages.
