Interval Pace
· v2.0.0
About
Interval Pace is a running data field for structured interval workouts: repeated cycles of a run segment and a rest or recovery segment, the kind of session used for HIIT, track intervals, tempo repeats, and fartlek training.
Made by Runima - https://runima.fit
During a workout, the field reads the current structured workout step from the device and splits your pace and heart rate samples into three groups: warmup and cooldown, rest and recovery, and active run segments. Each group gets its own average pace and average HR, so you can compare your easy splits against your hard splits at a glance, without doing lap math yourself.
Interval Pace also reduces the lag that shows up right after a workout step changes. GPS pace and heart rate readings take a few seconds to settle after a transition, for example when you move from a rest segment into a run segment. A configurable GPS warm up time skips a short window of samples after each transition, so stale readings from the previous segment do not get mixed into the new segment's average.
Two display modes are supported. Average mode shows a running average for each segment type across the whole workout. Last interval only mode shows just the current or most recently completed segment of each type, for example only your latest run rep, instead of blending it together with every earlier rep.
FEATURES
Live average pace and average heart rate for warmup and cooldown, rest and recovery, and active run segments, shown together on one screen.
Automatic splitting by structured workout step, no manual lap presses needed.
Adjustable GPS warm up time to skip unsettled pace and HR readings right after a step change.
Average mode or last interval only mode, your choice.
Built for run and rest interval workouts, HIIT, track repeats, and tempo intervals that use Garmin structured workouts.
SETTINGS
GPS Warm-up Time (sec)
Number of seconds of pace and heart rate data to ignore right after switching between warmup and cooldown, rest, and active segments. Increase this value if pace or HR readings still look carried over from the previous segment right after a transition.
Display Mode
Average shows each segment type's average pace and average HR across the whole workout. Last interval only shows just the current or most recently completed segment of each type, without blending it with earlier segments of the same type.
COMPATIBILITY
Interval Pace requires structured workout support on the device, available on Connect IQ API level 3.2.0 and above. It is built for running activities that use Garmin's structured workout feature with warmup, active, rest, and cooldown steps, including interval, HIIT, and track workouts created in Garmin Connect.
What's new
- Fixed a bug where pace and heart rate could show incorrect leftover values at the start of a workout
- Improved pace accuracy using GPS distance tracking instead of instantaneous speed
- Renamed "ACT" column label to "RUN"
- Added an optional setting to save extra debug data to the FIT file (off by default)
