About

Smart Home Web Requester (Garmin IQ) Overview This application is designed to send secure HTTPS requests directly from your Garmin watch to control smart home devices (like ESP8266, ESP32, or automation hubs). It features a dynamic menu system that is fully customizable via the application settings. Configuration Format The application builds your custom menu by parsing a single configuration string in the settings. You must use this exact syntax: -[Name]--[URL]; - (Single Dash): Precedes the Button Name (e.g., -Kitchen). -- (Double Dash): Separates the Name from the Target URL. ; (Semicolon): Mandatory separator. You must place a semicolon after every URL to close the block. This allows you to chain multiple buttons together. Example with 3 Links: -Kitchen--https://webhook.site;-LivingRoom--https://my-home-assistant.com;-Bedroom--https://ifttt.com; Kitchen — HTTPS (Cloud Webhook) Living Room — HTTPS (Secure Home Assistant) Bedroom — HTTPS (IFTTT Automation) Requirement: HTTPS Only Mandatory HTTPS: For security and compatibility with modern smartphone operating systems (iOS and Android), all external requests must use the HTTPS protocol. Security: This ensures that the data sent from your watch through your phone remains encrypted and protected. Connectivity: Your watch must be connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth, and the phone must have an active internet connection. How it Works Dynamic Menu: Upon launch, the app reads your configuration string and generates a custom list of buttons. Visual Status: Selecting an item displays a "Sending..." status (customizable in settings). Result & Haptics: Shows "Done!" or "Error Code" with a vibration alert once the response is received. Auto-Exit: The app automatically closes 2 seconds after the response to save battery and return you to the watch face. Use Cases Webhooks: Triggering cloud automation routines (IFTTT, Zapier). Smart Home: Controlling devices via secure remote access (Home Assistant, OpenHab). Secure APIs: Sending GET requests to any REST API that supports HTTPS.
