About
Sunset Drive is a driving game for your watch with the feel of the late-eighties
arcades: a red convertible, a low sun on the horizon, palm trees on the verge
and a road that keeps twisting while your time runs out.
No story, no long menus. Raise your wrist, start, and twenty seconds later
you're dodging a truck at three hundred kilometres an hour.
**How it plays.** The car accelerates on its own — your job is steering, and
braking when the corner tightens. On touchscreens you steer by holding your
finger on one side; on button watches, with up and down. Running onto the grass
won't stop you, but it drops you to a third of your speed, and those are
seconds you never get back.
**Time is the opponent.** You start with eighteen seconds. Each checkpoint
grants a few more, and every stage grants fewer than the last. Crashing doesn't
end your run — it slows you down, which in the long run is worse.
**The fork.** At the end of every stage the road splits in two and a grass
island forces you to pick a side. There's nothing to press: you choose by
driving. The right branch leads to a tighter course and scores more; the left
one is the quiet route. Every run traces its own path.
**Three ways to play.** Journey chains stages until the clock beats you. Daily
gives everyone the same course each day, so scores are comparable. Time Trial
is a single stage against your own best.
Your run is saved when you quit, so you can stop halfway and pick up where you
left off. There are three difficulty levels, sound and vibration you can set on
the watch itself, and stats for races, distance and streak.
**Worth knowing before you install.** It's a game, so it uses battery while you
play — don't leave it running in the background. On smaller screens the road
draws shorter, though everything stays readable. The interface is in English.
