About
Notebook — your notes, right on your wrist
Notebook turns your Garmin watch into a handy little notepad. Jot down ideas, keep track of shopping lists, tick off tasks, and count reps or laps — all without reaching for your phone.
WHAT IT DOES
Notebook keeps your notes organized in groups, so everything has its place. Open a group and add as many notes as you need. Each note can be one of nine types, so it fits exactly what you want to capture:
• Text — a free-form note for thoughts, reminders, addresses, or anything else.
• Checklist — a list with checkboxes; tap to tick items off as you go. Perfect for shopping and to-dos.
• Counter — a single large number you raise or lower with a tap, swipe, or the buttons. Great for counting reps, laps, drinks, or anything else.
• Numbered list — an ordered list of steps you can edit and reorder.
• Barcode — store a number or code and show it as a scannable barcode. Supports Code 39, Code 128 and EAN-13.
• QR code — turn a link, a Wi-Fi network, a phone number or any text into a QR code and scan it with your phone.
• Morse — flash a message in Morse code with the watch's flashlight. Choose the speed, the colour and whether it repeats.
• Countdown — count down to a date and time you choose, in days, hours, minutes and seconds. Once the moment passes, the same clock counts how long ago it was.
• Weekly planner — the things that come back every week: swimming on Tuesday, a lesson on Thursday. Each event has a day, a time, a description and an icon, and the week opens on whatever comes next.
KEEP IT PRIVATE
Lock any single note with a 4-digit access code. Its contents are encrypted right on the watch with strong cryptography (AES-256), so only someone who knows the code can open it. Notes without a code keep working exactly as before.
FRIENDLY, NATIVE INTERFACE
Notebook is built around the watch's native menus and touch controls, so it feels right at home on your device. Tap, swipe, or use the physical buttons — whatever you prefer. Lists scroll smoothly and longer text notes scroll with a clean, fluid animation. A glance view shows your total note count at a glance, without even opening the app.
SPEAKS YOUR LANGUAGE
Notebook is fully translated into 25 languages: Czech, Danish, German, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, and Ukrainian. The app automatically follows your watch's language.
WORKS ANYWHERE
Everything is stored on the watch, so Notebook works completely offline — no phone, no account, no internet connection required. Your notes are always with you.
Simple, fast, and made to fit the small screen. Give Notebook a try and keep your thoughts where you can always reach them.
What's new
2.3
- A new kind of note: "Planner" - the things that come back every week, each
with a day, a time, a description and an icon. "Show" lays the week out with
the days as headings and the cursor already on whatever comes next.
- Events are added under "Add" and corrected under "Change"; picking one in the
week opens its description to read. Fourteen icons to mark them with -
swimming, the gym, a lesson, work, a meal and so on.
- In the group list and in Favorites a planner shows what is coming next:
"Tue 12:30 Swimming". Notes made with earlier versions are left untouched.
- Notes can also change groups: "Move to group" in a note's menu lists the
other groups, and picking one moves the note there - access code, content and
place in Favorites included. It appears only when there is more than one
group.
- Groups now remember when they were created, and the date and time appear in
the footer under the group's note list - the same footer a note already has.
Groups made with earlier versions have no date recorded; theirs keeps the
footer's dividing line, just without the date.
- The "Options:" section can now be tucked away. "Options" on the main screen
switches between leaving it open under every list, as before, and collapsing
it into a single row that unfolds when tapped - handy once a list has more
options than content. Every screen opens with it closed again.
2.2
- A new kind of note: "Countdown". Pick a date and a time, and the note counts
down to it - days, hours, minutes and seconds, ticking on screen.
- The date and the time are set on scrolling wheels ("Date" and "Time" in the
note's menu, each showing what is set right now as its second line). Dates
that do not exist are not accepted: pick the 31st of February and it settles
on the last day of that month.
- The countdown screen shows the time left in large digits, with the number of
days above them when there is more than a day to go, and the word "Left"
underneath. A ring around the edge fills up as the wait goes by, so a glance
tells you roughly how far along you are.
- Once the moment passes, the note does not go blank: the ring closes, the
digits turn red and the caption changes from "Left" to "Elapsed" - the same
clock now counting how long ago it happened.
- The date and time a note was created has moved out of the note's menu and
into a footer at the bottom of it, under a line: the date on one row, the
time under it, with a small clock face beside the date. It used to sit second
in the list, where it looked like something to tap even though nothing
happened when you did. The menu now opens straight from "Show" to "Options:".
- The same has been done with "Version" on the main screen: it is no longer a
row at the end of the list but a footer under a line, with the word "Version"
above the number. Nothing there was ever clickable, and now it does not
pretend to be.
- Notes can now be put in the order you want them: every note's menu has "Move
up" and "Move down", just above "Delete note". Each press swaps the note with
its neighbour, and the list shows the new order when you go back.
- "Move up" and "Move down" now tell you where you are: their second line reads
the note's place in the group, such as "3/7", and it changes with every
press. The menu stays open, so you can keep pressing until the note sits
where you want it - the group menu works the same way for groups now, instead
of closing after a single move.
- Nothing is shown that cannot be done: the two options disappear when a group
holds a single note, and likewise in the group menu when there is only one
group.
2.1
- Favorites can now be tidied up by hand: open "Favorites" and pick "Remove
from favorites" at the bottom, under "Options:". It shows the same list
again; choose a note and confirm to drop it.
- Only the shortcut goes away - the note itself, its content and its group stay
exactly as they were. A note you keep openi
