Rally Face

A rally-inspired watch face with two faces in one: digital and analog. Switch between them in the watch face settings — there is no need to install a second face. DIGITAL One dominant time readout with the seconds in rally orange, the date above it, battery and step count below. The layout is measured at runtime, so the time fills the screen on a fenix 7S and on a Forerunner 970 alike, and nothing is clipped by the round edge. ANALOG Tapered hands sized to the screen radius, a marked bezel with longer marks at 12, 3, 6 and 9, and an orange second hand with a counterweight. The hour hand moves smoothly with the minutes, so at 10:59 it reads almost eleven rather than ten. The date sits at 6 o'clock, where only the minute hand crosses it and only briefly. ALWAYS-ON On AMOLED watches the always-on view is deliberately dimmer and sparser. The time drops to the secondary colour, the seconds and the step count disappear, and the analog face keeps only the four major markers and thin outline hands. The whole face shifts position every minute to guard against burn-in. Less light on screen means both less burn-in risk and a longer day on a charge. Rally Face is the companion to Rally Co-Driver, a stage timing app for rally co-drivers, and shares its look. It works entirely on its own and needs neither that app nor a phone.

First release. Both styles are complete: digital and analog, selectable in the watch face settings, with a dimmed and simplified always-on view plus burn-in protection on AMOLED watches. Checked in the simulator on all six screen sizes from 240x240 to 454x454, including the position where the hour and minute hands nearly overlap — the hour hand is deliberately the thicker of the two so the two can still be told apart at a glance.
