Simply Daylight

This widget provides an easy way to see the times of the next sunrise, sunset & solar noon. When I published a simple altitude widget (https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/a62e9023-0f2e-42c1-80e2-0cb12df2b6d1) a user suggested that displaying sunrise and sunset in a large font would also be useful. This widget does that. Thanks for the suggestion @Guido Goldfisch! When first displayed the widget shows the time of the next “sun event” – sunrise/sunset or civil twilight. Pressing Select causes it to cycle between them. Press Menu to show the time of the next solar noon (i.e. when the sun is at its highest.) Press Menu again to go back to showing sunrise & sunset. Use the settings page to choose whether to show the times of sunrise/sunset or of civil twilight. Civil twilight times are labelled as Dawn & Dusk. GPS NOTES The widget needs to know its position in order to calculate the time of sunrise & sunset. If it does not have an adequate GPS signal it uses the last good position it knows about. • Normal mode If the position is not up to date the widget continues to look for a better GPS fix and the time is shown in grey. • Widget Glances mode In Glances mode the widget just displays the time of the next "sun event" (sunrise or sunset). No user interaction is possible. The time is normally shown in blue. As above, if the position is not current the time is shown in grey. Acknowledgements The calculation depends on time and location, I have taken it from the excellent code by Harald Hoyer. He wrote it for his SunCalc widget (https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/87b86650-a443-43ea-9dcb-29e4051a5722) that shows sunrise, sunset and much more - take a look.
