Daily Face
· v1.1
About
DailyFace is a feature-rich watch face designed exclusively for the Garmin Fenix 8, built around the idea that your watch face should give you a complete picture of your day at a single glance, without sacrificing the clean and premium aesthetic the Fenix deserves.
Time, at the center of everything
The time is displayed in a large, bold format with seconds visible alongside, carefully positioned so nothing overlaps with the rest of the layout. Below it, the date adapts to your preferred format: classic American style, European day-first, or a compact numeric format. Both time and date respect your watch's own 12/24 hour setting, or you can override them independently from the settings page.
A topographic world beneath your data
The background is a procedurally generated topographic map, rendered as smooth elevation contours with stepped shading between bands, inspired by the terrain aesthetic of Garmin's own watch face designs but generated uniquely for DailyFace. You can choose from eight background styles: plain black for maximum battery efficiency, the default dark topo, a brighter high-contrast topo, and five colour-tinted variants including Deep Navy, Olive Military, Deep Teal, Burgundy, and Charcoal Blue. Every style is designed so your data remains perfectly legible on top.
Weather at a glance, with intelligence
The left widget circle shows the day's dominant weather condition using a clean icon set covering sun, cloud, rain, fog, wind, and a crescent moon for clear nights. The icon is determined by scanning the full hourly forecast and selecting the most frequent condition across the day. Minimum and maximum temperatures are shown below, with full Celsius and Fahrenheit support. When rain or snow is approaching within 15 minutes, or is actively falling during the current forecast hour, the weather circle rotates between the standard view and a clear alert reading "Rain soon", "Rain now", "Snow soon", or "Snow now".
Your activity and location data
The right widget circle is split into two halves. The top shows your current altitude, and the bottom shows either the next sunrise or sunset depending on the time of day, alongside a directional icon. A steps counter sits on the dividing line between the two circles. Above and below the main content, two status rows complete the picture: the top row shows battery level and unread notification count, and the bottom row shows body battery percentage alongside your live heart rate.
World news, rotating on your wrist
The lower portion of the face is dedicated to live news headlines fetched from GNews. This feature requires a free API key from gnews.io, entered through the Connect IQ mobile app settings. Up to ten headlines rotate at your chosen speed across up to four lines, refreshing every 30 minutes in the background. You can select the news category from World, Technology, Business, Sports, Science, Health, Entertainment, National, and Breaking News, and choose from ten supported languages including English, Polish, Italian, Spanish and more.
Personalisation built in
DailyFace ships with a full settings page accessible from the Connect IQ mobile app. You can choose an accent colour applied to the seconds digits, the dividing line, and the steps icon, with eight options including White, Garmin Orange, Teal, Ice Blue, Lime, Red, Amber, and Purple. Temperature unit, time format, date format, news category, news language, and headline rotation speed are all configurable.
DailyFace is built natively in Monkey C with no third-party libraries, designed to be efficient on device memory and respectful of your battery. Every data point on screen is live, sourced directly from your watch's own sensors and synced data.
