About
Almanac is a calm, typographic dashboard for your watch. Big legible time, the date in your watch's own language, sunrise and sunset, and three data fields you choose yourself — laid out with room to breathe rather than packed edge to edge.
ADAPTIVE MODE
Most watch faces look the same at 3am as they do at noon. Almanac doesn't.
In Adaptive mode the face changes both its colours and its content as the day goes on, anchored to your actual sunrise and sunset rather than fixed clock hours:
• Morning — cool blue. Heart rate, Body Battery and Recovery, with last night's sleep score along the bottom.
• Day — a light, bright dial. Heart rate, steps and calories, with Body Battery along the bottom.
• Evening — warm sand tones. Heart rate, steps and intensity minutes.
• Night — deep and dimmed, with the current moon phase drawn softly into the background. Back to rest data: Body Battery, Recovery and sleep.
The resting phases show recovery data, because that is what matters when you are not moving. The active phases show activity. The face follows your day instead of asking you to configure it.
Prefer something constant? Four fixed palettes are included: Vivid, Warm, Cool and Forest.
ON THE FACE
• Time in 12- or 24-hour format
• Date, localised by your watch
• Sunrise and sunset, always shown in 24-hour time
• Three configurable data columns
• A progress bar along the bottom
• A moving ring around the edge, with a leading dot
CUSTOMISE IT ON THE WATCH
Press and hold the watch face and choose Edit. You can pick the colour theme and set each of the three data columns right there, without reaching for your phone.
Each column can show heart rate, steps, calories, battery, Body Battery, intensity minutes, floors climbed, stress, sleep score or recovery time.
In Garmin Connect you can also change what the edge ring tracks (seconds, day progress, battery, step goal, or turn it off), hide sunrise and sunset, and switch between colour-coded and plain white data fields.
A LIGHT TOUCH
Almanac asks for one permission — access to your activity complications — and only so the data columns can show your numbers.
It does not ask for location. Sunrise and sunset come from data your watch already has. If your watch does not know where it is yet, those times simply read --:-- until it does.
In low-power mode the face draws only the time and date on black, shifted slightly from minute to minute to be kind to the display.
COMPATIBILITY
Built for round Garmin watches with an AMOLED display, and for the fēnix 8 Solar. The layout is drawn in code and scales to each screen size, so it fits the small dials as well as the large ones.
LANGUAGES
The settings are available in English, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Polish. The date on the face follows your watch's own language, whichever that is.
