About
A (currently) Edge 530 specific cycling application with focus on readability. It supports the Varia radar so that if one is detected, the UI yields space for the device-rendered overlays. It can be configured with min/max HR and power, power average and auto pause speed. There is also a custom FIT-field showing power/HR. The application has three main screens:
Status: The landing page. Here you can see the battery status of the device, the strength of the GPS signal and the battery level for the found devices (where supported). The prev/next buttons will toggle the "ANT operation time" where applicable. Pressing and holding the menu will show the currently configured settings. Pressing the start button will take you to the main screen and the session will start automatically once the auto pause speed has been exceeded.
---
Main: The main page. On the left is the HR bar and on the right the power bar. The average value is shown at the bottom and the current value at the top. An arrow near the top will show if the average is increasing or decreasing. No arrow is drawn if the value is stable. Top-center is the current session distance and top-bottom is the session time and the wall clock time. In the middle of the screen is the current speed and the average speed and between them a colored bar in red if the average is decreasing and green if increasing. The display will be mostly grey if the session is paused. Please note that the session distance/time and HR/power are reset but the session is recorded as normal in the background.
Beta-feature: single-pressing the menu key will cycle you through the light control profiles. I have the UT-800 and RTL-515 so YMMV with others. For best results, let the light network form before starting the app. The light profiles are as follows (and currently shown in a yellow circle in the upper-left-hand corner for a few seconds)
0: front light off, back light medium
1: front light low, back light medium
2: front light low, back light medium until 30 km/h, then front light medium, back light high
3: front and back light medium
4: front light medium, back light high until 30 km/h, then front light high, back light high
5: front and back light low
The session is stopped by holding the menu key. Here you can save the session which takes you to a summary screen. The back button will then exit the application. If you discard the session, a confirmation is required.
The lap button can be used to (surprise) start a lap.
Pressing the next/prev button will start a one minute long sprint session and pressing + holding the button will start with a five minute session. Both ways will then move you to the sprint view.
---
Sprint: The sprint view shows the remaining time at the top, the current HR in the lower left corner and the current speed in the lower right corner. In the center is the current power and the average power and a direction bar that works in the same way as the speed/average speed in the main view. Time can be increased/decreased with the prev/next buttons in the same way as when entering the view (1 minute for press, 5 minutes for press + hold). A circle around the power will also show graphically how much time remains. When the timer expires, a summary screen is shown for three seconds and then you are taken back to the main screen. If you want to exit early, just decrease the time to negative
---
Disclaimer: I have been using the application for some months now without issues but I cannot guarantee that there won't be any so please take it around the block before going on that century ride. The application is mostly written for my own needs and I'm open to suggestions but I can't guarantee that your idea will be implemented.
N.B: This application is really optimized for using with both a heart rate monitor and a power meter
