CrossSwap

This widget is a word game that is a combination of the Wordle and a Sudoku. The goal is to swap letters to solve a 4x4 perfect crossword. Two languages are supported (English with over 4,000 words and French with over 2,500 words). Words are based on the scrabble official valid list for 4 letter words, slightly edited to remove inappropriate words. Note that many words are not common words so it makes it a good game for people wanting to build their Scrabble skills. The game generates a 4x4 crossword and then randomly swaps letters. The player must swap letters to re-construct the perfect initial 4x4 crossword. Letters that have been correctly placed will turn green and cannot be moved anymore. Letters that are yellow are letters that are not in the correct final location but are either in the row or the column. Letters in gray are letters that are not in the correct final location and are also neither in the row nor in the column. These colors can be used to deduct where letters go in a Sudoku like manner especially when the words are not common words. Upon start, note that for slower devices it can take a few seconds to create a puzzle. This is because randomly generating a 4x4 crossword takes a little bit of time. Controlling the game is done with the touch screen: - When the game has been created, tap a letter (it will recess) and then tap the letter to swap it with. Tapping back on an already selected letter or outside the puzzle tile will un-select the first letter. - When the game is completed (either a win or a loss), tap anywhere to start a new game - Swipe left to access the menu (or press the menu button) - Swipe right to quit the game (or press the back button) For watches that support the up/down/select buttons, the game can also be controlled with buttons. Use the up/down to toggle through letters (a purple outline will appear) and use the select button to perform the swap (select the first one to be recessed and then select the second letter. The following settings are available: - Game Mode: the user can select either an unlimited number of attempts or a limit of 15 swaps before the game is over. When a limited number of attempts is selected, the game will end and display the solution. - Difficulty: the user can select the difficulty as easy (the game after creating a puzzle will swap randomly 5 times), medium (the game swaps 8 times) or difficult (the game swaps 12 times). - Language: the user can select the system language (default), English or French.
