About
WARNING: The app is intended only as an in-flight aid and should not be used as a primary information source. If the app contains a barometric altimeter, it will not function in a pressurized aircraft and should not be used in a pressurized aircraft.
---------------------------------------------------------
!!! IMPORTANT !!! The app needs GPS reception to work. If you test it inside it will only return "n/a".
This is a small app that I created as a secondary flight instrument for paragliding.
It can record the flight (saving the activity as "Flight [Area where flown]" and show you your heading [°] (top), speed [km/h] (middle left), glide ratio over the last 20 seconds (middle right) and altitude [m] (bottom).
If you wish to support the further development of the app or just say thank you or invite me to my next landing beer you can send me a small donation via the following link: https://www.paypal.me/constantinklug (please choose send to family & friends) - cheers :-)
More detail description of the app:
The menu can be opened by long pressing the up button on most round watches.
The app also has a wind indicator, indicating out of which direction the wind is blowing. This is visualised using a compass needle.
Newest feature is a thermal indicator. The indicator shows the flight track of the last minute and indicates the areas of lift with circles. The bigger the circle, the greater the lift in that location. This "thermal tracker" can be shown automatically as soon as you have experienced lift greater than 1m/s. After 30 seconds it switches back to the normal screen. This feature can be activated in the settings menu.
Flightmeter can also vibrate shortly for every meter altitude gained. This can be activated in the settings menu as well.
Autostart: the app starts recording as soon as speeds higher than 10km/h are reached (e.g. after launch). This can be deactivated in the menu.
Since versions 1.5.0 changes in the menu remain set, even after closing the app and starting it again. So if you don't like to have the automatic showing of the thermals, or the vibrating for hight gained or the auto-start feature, you can turn these of in the settings.
Any feedback is highly appreciated. Please use the "contact the developer" button if you want to give feedback on improvement topics.
If you like the app please be so kind to leave a positive rating in the store :-)
What's new
V1.5.6. yet another bug that could cause crash on startup - hope this time around I got them all ^^
V1.5.5 fixed bug that could cause crash on startup
V1.5.4 added support for Venue, Venue SQ versions
V1.5.3 fixed saving dialog with new menu (discarding didn't work before), changed color of wind indicator from red to blue (better suits the color of the wind :-) )
V1.5.2 small bug fix - now all settings should remain the way they are once set in the menu, even after closing
V1.5.1 small bug fix
V1.5.0 added persistent settings: changes set in the menu will keep their values, even after the app is closed and opened again. Furthermore I added a setting to activate and deactivate the automatic showing of the thermals when you experience greater lift than 1m/s. @George hope that helps you for your next flight ;-)
V1.4.0 so, once again a couple of smaller changes (e.g. a string problem in the menu). The big one though is the thermal finder. It visualises the flight track as well as the areas of lift that you have flown through.
V1.3.0 made a lot of smaller changes (e.g. speed was not 100% correctly displayed, autostart only when usable GPS signal, glide ratio averaged over 10 seconds, etc.). The major change with this version though, is the integrations of a wind indicator. The wind indicator is shown as a compass needle and shows from wich compass direction the wind is coming from. I did not have much time to test this features thoroughly. Should you find out that it is not working properly or might be off (e.g. by 15° compared to your proper vario), then please use the "contact developer" button to give feedback.
I am currently working on a new model that will help you on centering on thermals, this will come with the next version ;-)
V1.2.0 skipped
V1.1.1 adjusted the .xml file to work with all watches with SDK 2.4x and higher as well as increased the strength of the vibrate signal.
V1.1 added support for round watch faces as well as an auto start recording function (starts when speed is above 10km/h). This feature can be deactivated in the menu.
