Capybara Buddy - Pixel Pet Watch Face
· v1.0.4
About
Meet your new training buddy — the world's most relaxed animal, now keeping
time on your wrist.
### YOUR STEPS GROW ITS GARDEN
A little plant grows a stage for every quarter of your daily step goal. Hit
100% and it bears a red berry — then your capybara munches it happily (about
half an hour) and a fresh seedling starts growing from your next steps. Big
days harvest several berries. The garden resets each day and survives a
reboot.
### IT LIVES WITH YOU
Walks and blinks while you're active, sleeps when you do (night or Do Not
Disturb), celebrates your step goal wearing a yuzu orange on its head, and
goes heavy-lidded and tired with a bead of sweat for an hour after you log
an active minute.
### LEVEL UP BY LIVING
1 XP per step, 5 XP per active minute, with a level bar under the capy. Each
level costs more than the last.
### EIGHT CAPYBARAS, SEVEN THEMES
Pick your capy's coat — Classic, Brown, Sand, Grey, Charcoal, Cream, Golden,
or Match theme, which tints the fur to your accent. Seven UI colors: Radium
Green, Amber, Ice Blue, Pink, Crimson, Arctic White, Teal.
### DATA YOU CHOOSE
Three data tabs, twelve slots, twenty metrics per slot: Steps, Goal %,
Calories, Distance, Floors, Active minutes, Heart rate, Body Battery,
Stress, Battery, Battery days, Notifications, Alarms, Level, Temperature,
Feels like, Temperature high/low, Precipitation chance, Humidity, Wind — or
Off, which re-centers the rest. Show 1, 2, 3 or 4 fields per tab: one to
three sit in a centred row, four splits into two stacked pairs, one on each
side. The clock follows the watch's own 12/24-hour setting unless you
override it on the face. Switch tabs by tapping the screen (touch watches),
let them auto-cycle every 3/5/8 seconds (no touch needed), pin one tab, or
hide the tabs entirely. Three layouts: Full, Minimal (just time, capy and
plant), or No data tabs.
### BUILT-IN NATIVE EDITOR SUPPORT
On fēnix 8 era watches and newer — including Forerunner 570/970, Venu 4 and
vívoactive 6 — the system "Edit watch face" flow drives the face directly:
choose the capybara coat from the style list, pick an accent color, set the
data color, and drop any system complication into tab 1's four slots, with a
live preview as you edit.
### EVERYTHING IS ON-WATCH
No phone needed: the Connect IQ menu on the watch covers every option,
including all twelve slots, plus a 4-slide illustrated "How it works" guide
drawn with the face's own pixel art.
### AMOLED ALWAYS-ON
A minimal always-on scene — dim time plus the sleeping capy as outline-only
line art — lighting under 2.2% of the display and shifting position every
minute for burn-in protection. Can be turned off. MIP watches show the full
face in low power.
No account, no phone connection, no internet access, no location tracking.
### REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- Body Battery and Stress fields need a watch that measures them; on watches
that don't, those fields read "--" rather than a fake number. Same for
Floors, Active minutes, Alarms and Battery days.
- The native watch face editor (styles / accent color / data color /
complications) needs Connect IQ 5.1 or newer. Older watches get the same
options through the Connect IQ settings menu and the phone app instead.
- Tap-to-switch tabs needs a touch screen. Non-touch watches should use the
Auto-cycle tab mode (Garmin watch faces cannot receive button presses).
- Phone-app settings are only available for store installs; sideloaded
builds use the on-watch settings menu.
### PERMISSIONS
- Sensor History — reads the newest Body Battery and Stress samples for
those two data fields. Nothing is stored or transmitted.
- Complication Subscriber — required to read the complications the user
assigns in the native watch face editor. Complications only deliver data
to subscribers, so without it those slots would render as 0.
No Communications, Positioning, Background, Sensor, ANT or UserProfile
permission is requested. The face makes no network requests.
What's new
### WEATHER ON YOUR WRIST
Six new data fields: temperature, feels like, today's high/low, precipitation
chance, humidity and wind. Assign them to any slot. No account and no extra
permission — they use the forecast your phone already syncs.
### ONE TO FOUR FIELDS PER TAB
Choose how many data fields each tab shows. One, two or three sit in a centred
row; four splits into two stacked pairs, one on each side.
### TIRED AND SWEATY
Log an active minute and the capy goes heavy-lidded with a bead of sweat for
the next hour, then perks back up.
### 12/24-HOUR OVERRIDE
The clock follows your watch's own setting by default, or you can pin it to
12-hour or 24-hour on the face.
### FIXED
Changing the theme colour or capybara coat from the Connect IQ phone app or the
on-watch settings menu had no effect on watches with the built-in watch face
editor (Forerunner 570/970, fenix 8 era, Venu 4, vivoactive 6). The editor, the
phone app and the on-watch menu now stay in sync.
