About

AirTrack shows a live Clean Air Score on your watch while you record an activity, so you can see the quality of the air you are actually breathing as you train. The score runs from 0 to 100, where higher is cleaner. It is adjusted for what you are doing: your breathing rate and whether you are indoors or outdoors both change how much air you take in, so a hard outdoor run and a gentle indoor session are not scored the same way. On the watch you see the score, colour-coded from green to red, with a plain-English rating underneath: Excellent, Good, Moderate, Poor or Very Poor. SETUP 1. Install the AirTrack mobile app and sign in. 2. Purchase a Premium AirTrack subscription 3. Add the field to a data screen: Settings / Activities and Apps / your activity / Data Screens / pick a screen / edit a field / scroll to the bottom of the category list / Connect IQ. 4. Open the activity screen. The field shows a QR code - point your phone camera at it, open the link, and confirm in the AirTrack app. Pairing completes at the watch's next check-in, up to five minutes later - the QR stays on screen until then, which is normal. IN GARMIN CONNECT The score is written into the activity's FIT file, so after the session you get a Clean Air Score chart alongside your other data, and an average for the whole activity in the summary. WHAT THE BOTTOM LINE MEANS Excellent / Good / Moderate / Poor / Very Poor - a live reading Waiting - no reading yet; the first one can take up to five minutes Pair app - not paired yet, or the pairing was revoked (larger layouts show the QR instead) Premium - this account does not have access to watch data AQ down - air quality data is briefly unavailable; the last good score is kept No GPS - no location fix in the last 15 minutes; the last good score is kept Offline - the watch cannot reach the phone UPDATE RATE The score refreshes every five minutes. That is the Connect IQ minimum for a background service rather than a choice, and air quality does not change meaningfully faster. The last good reading stays on screen between updates, greyed out if it could not be refreshed - a failed poll never blanks the field. REQUIREMENTS - An AirTrack Premium account with watch access - A phone in Bluetooth range running the AirTrack app and Garmin Connect Mobile - A GPS fix — from the activity, or one from the last 15 minutes — which is what the score is calculated for; without one the field says No GPS rather than guessing DATA The watch sends your location and activity type to the AirTrack server to calculate the score, and nothing else. The score is stored in your activity's FIT file, as any data field's output is.
