About
This is the Centurion South Downs Way 100 mile race information shown as a Data Field.
SETUP
======
You need to use Garmin Connect Mobile (phone) or Garmin Express (computer) to enter timing information.
If you don't know how to access Settings for the ConnectIQ apps, see here: https://support.garmin.com/faqSearch/en-US/faq/content/SPo0TFvhQO04O36Y5TYRh5
-- "Target Time/Times": this is EITHER a single target time as hhmm (default is 2345 for 23 hours 45 minutes), OR a list of 15 custom times-of-day separated by commas.
If you enter a single time (e.g. 2400), aid station times are calculated in a linear fashion - i.e. 50 miles will be at 12 hours for a 24 hour target. These times will be useful indications but you probably want to move faster in the first half as you will slow in the second.
To set custom times:
As an example, entering the following:
0600,0748,1006,1119,1256,1437,1619,1711,1907,2032,2322,0120,0323,0428,0539
Will set up for 06:00 at Winchester, 07:48 at Beacon Hill, 1006 at QECP etc.
If you enter the list you MUST enter 15 values, and make sure there are no spaces so it's just times as "hhmm,hhmm,hhmm,hhmm..."
-- "Check": Tick the CHECK option in the settings to make the Data Field show the full list of 15 aid stations with their time-of-day next to them so you can check the data and calculations are correct. Make sure you untick the CHECK setting before race day!
-- "Show Miles": This option displays miles for the current (middle) checkpoint (e.g. "Bignor Hill (41.7m)")
-- "Alternate time-of-day and remaining time": Tick this option and the display for the current (middle) checkpoint will alternate between the target time-of-day (e.g. "14:42") and the time remaining (e.g. "1h21") every 3 seconds. The time remaining will be shown as white with a black background so it's immediately obvious it's not the target time.
IN USE
======
The Data Field is split into 3 sections. The middle section shows the time-of-day at the aid station for 24 hour time (blue), target time (black) and 30 hour time (red). Above this is the same information for the previous aid station, and below is the information for the next aid station.
The current aid station is the one that you will reach next in time - for example, at 13:45 the next aid station will be Bignor Hill at 1600 with 24 hour target time set.
NOTE: The Data Field checks whether the day is Sunday in order to determine if you're near the start or end of the race during the hours of 0600-1200. If it's Sunday, it assumes you've been running for 24 hours at 0600 but for any other day of the week it assumes you started at 0600 that day.
