Recovery HR Trend
· v1.7.0
About
This data field measures your recovery heart rate (HR) after an activity and calculates and stores a trend of those values over up to 9 weeks. Newer Garmin models may record recovery HR, but do not provide an easy way to see the trend of these values over time.
This is a data field and must be added to a data screen of an activity app to be used.
# Features
* Display recovery HR for the activity.
* Saves recovery HR to the session record in Garmin Connect
* Saves the Recovery HR trend over 9 weeks to the data field settings. The average for each week is saved, assuming you save one activity with a recovery HR value each day.
# Instructions:
1) Press the STOP button as usual at the end of your aerobic exercise.
2) Rest.
3) At the end of the 2 minutes, the watch will vibrate, indicating that the heart rate recovery has been measured.
4) Now save the activity.
5) View the results in Garmin Connect. For example, a heart rate recovery value of 25 means that your heart rate dropped 25bpm after 2 minutes. This value should increase as your fitness level improves.
NOTE: Recovery HR should ideally be measured after a vigorous workout—so if you try to measure it after a more moderate sweat session, chances are you’ll get a lower number.
# FULL Version Features
* Customizable measurement time (default: 2 minutes after stopping the activity)
* Option to save to the session record in Garmin Connect either:
a) Recovery HR trend over 9 weeks. The average for each week is saved, assuming you save one activity with a recovery HR value each day.
OR b) Recovery HR after 1,2,3,4,5 minutes after stopping. For best results, sit or stand with minimal movement for the entire 5 minutes until the watch vibrates indicating 5 minutes has elapsed. For details, see: https://ko-fi.com/post/What-Should-Your-Recovery-Heart-Reate-Look-Like-P5P01EEYOP
* Ability to view the recovery HR trend graph vs. time or last recovery (1-5 minutes) from the on-watch data field settings menu. (Requires a Garmin model with Connect IQ version 3.2.0 or higher). For instructions on how to get to the data field settings menu see: https://ko-fi.com/post/How-to-Change-Data-Field-Settings-Directly-on-the-S6S611GYAK

# General Info
Recovery HR is a strong indicator of cardiovascular health. A higher recovery HR has been found to be associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular events (coronary artery disease, heart attacks, and strokes) and lower all-cause mortality.

Reference percentile values for 2 minute recovery HR are not widely available, but 1 minute recovery HR values are available for comparison.
What's new
Version 1.7.0
FULL Version only change: Changed the rate value which is displayed in the graph of the last recovery to the exponential time constant. This can be interpreted as the minutes it required for your HR to settle to 63% of the way to the resting equilibrium. A lower value is better, indicating a faster recovery.
