About

The Edge Explore 2 does not support Garmin's structured workouts. Interval Guide fills the gap: a data field that walks you through your interval session, step by step. You enter the workout as a single line of simple text, from the app settings in Garmin Connect Mobile. The app parses it when the activity starts, validates it, and guides you as you ride. At a glance while riding: • The current block name (WARM-UP, EFFORT, RECOVERY, COOL-DOWN) • Time remaining in the block in big digits, plus total elapsed time • The interval counter (e.g. "SERIES 3/6") • BLACK screen, readable in bright sun; your heart rate is shown in COLOR by your current zone (Z1–Z5, Garmin color code) • An effort arrow next to the HR: ▲ push (below target), = hold (in target), ▼ ease (above) • A Z1→Z5 bar with a triangle cursor on your actual zone, and the block's TARGET zone outlined: get the cursor onto the outlined segment and you're in the right zone Touch controls: tap the screen to pause the workout without stopping the activity (handy at a red light), tap again to resume. The "NEXT" button jumps straight to the next block. At the end of each block the app advances automatically to the next, with a tone and a flash a few seconds before the transition. When the activity is paused (manually or via auto-pause), the countdown pauses too and resumes exactly where it left off. Workout syntax (single line): WU 10:00 Z2 ; 6x(3:00 Z4 / 2:00 Z1) ; CD 10:00 • ";" separates blocks · duration in mm:ss · zone Z1–Z5 • "Nx( … / … )" for repeats • WU = warm-up, CD = cool-down (zone optional) Setup: place "Interval Guide" on a single-field data page (the display then fills the whole screen), and enable system tones to hear the pre-transition alert. The color-coded HR, effort arrow, and cursor require a heart-rate strap and configured cycling HR zones; without them those elements are simply hidden and the rest of the display works normally. Heart-rate zones only. The Edge Explore 2 has no vibration motor, so the alert is audible + visual.
