About
Free during development period.
Pitlane turns your watch into a racing-dash instrument cluster. A full-perimeter shift-light tachometer wraps the rim in forty-four chunky segments that climb as your day builds, glowing in your accent colour while you are on track and flashing red the moment you fall behind, just like a shift light. Dead-centre sit the hero digits, striped with a fine diagonal hatch and baked into a custom typeface so the time reads like a real dash. Below them, two ghost seven-segment panels glow with your live numbers, and an E-to-F fuel gauge tracks a metric of your choosing, running amber when there is plenty in the tank and turning red as it drops into the reserve, with a small monochrome icon naming what it reads. It all sits on a true-black carbon ground, so the lit segments and readouts pop and nothing else gets in the way.
The whole dash is yours to configure. Point the tachometer at whichever daily total you chase — steps, active minutes, floors, calories or distance — and read it as a fixed instrument scale with an honest numbered dial, or as a percent-of-goal counter. Fill the fuel gauge with your battery, Body Battery, stress or a daily total you are working toward. Fill the two ghost panels from a deep metric catalogue — heart rate, resting heart rate, heart-rate zone, Body Battery, stress, SpO2, respiration, steps, steps to goal, floors, floors to goal, distance, active minutes, weekly intensity, intensity to goal, move bar, total and active calories, plus deeper Garmin health readouts: VO2 max for running and cycling, recovery time, and, on supported watches, sleep score. Round it out with the environment: temperature, humidity, precipitation, UV index, the current weather, elevation, pressure, solar intensity, sunrise and sunset, battery, notifications and date. Each has its own crisp on-device icon, or switch either panel off for a cleaner cluster. Three accent schemes retint the lit segments and the hatched time (classic white and red, yellow, or cyan), while the low warning red, the fuel amber and the safety cues stay true, the way a real instrument would.
Every number is drawn crisp on-device in custom-baked, smoothly anti-aliased type, never clunky system fonts. Distance follows your watch's unit setting, kilometres or miles; temperature follows Celsius or Fahrenheit; the clock follows your 12 or 24-hour setting. Open the watch face settings in the Garmin Connect IQ app on your phone to make Pitlane your own.
Your Body Battery and heart-rate history feed the on-device readouts; your Garmin complication data drives the health readouts (VO2 max, recovery time and sleep score); your profile powers the active-calories estimate; and your location is used only for sunrise and sunset. Nothing ever leaves the watch.
What's new
V1.2.0 - Please note: this update needs TWO NEW PERMISSIONS, which you must accept when you update — your Garmin complication data (for sleep score, VO2 max and recovery time) and your location (for sunrise and sunset). As always, nothing leaves your watch.
A much wider choice for the two LCD readouts, plus a live Garmin health-data feed. New readouts you can now drop into either cluster: resting heart rate, heart-rate zone, active calories (estimate), steps to goal, floors to goal, intensity to goal, weekly intensity, move bar, solar intensity, VO2 max for running and cycling, recovery time, and sunrise and sunset — plus sleep score on supported devices. Every readout has its own crisp on-device icon.
V1.1.0 - Five new live-weather readouts you can drop into either LCD cluster — Feels Like, Humidity, Precipitation, Wind and UV Index — each with its own crisp icon. Settings menus are now localised in more languages, including Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
V1.0.0 - First public release.
A racing-dash instrument cluster for AMOLED: a full-perimeter shift-light tachometer that revs on your steps, active minutes, floors, calories or distance and reds out when you fall behind, hatched hero digits in a custom-baked typeface, twin seven-segment LCD readouts drawn from a full metric catalogue, an E-to-F fuel gauge that tracks the metric you choose and reds out when it runs low, and a bottom row of racing sectors charting your Body Battery over the last two hours. Three accent schemes, unit-aware readouts (kilometres or miles, Celsius or Fahrenheit, 12 or 24-hour), a burn-in-safe always-on with three detail levels, and no ticking seconds. One on-device permission, nothing leaves the watch.
