About
MIL-SPEC AMBER turns the fenix 8 into an instrument panel. Amber on near-black,
everything measured, nothing decorative. Every reading is one you chose.
FOUR GAUGES ON THE RIM
Both sides split in two — four gauges, not two. Each shows what you pick:
battery, Body Battery, step goal, stress, intensity minutes, floors, Pulse Ox,
VO2 max, or nothing. And each fills its own way: a goal grows up from empty, a
reserve drains down from full.
A GRAPH THAT COLOURS ITSELF
The trace along the bottom takes the colour of its zone — stress green to red,
Body Battery the other way, heart rate off your own profile — over 4 or 24
hours, with the high and low printed on it.
RAIN NOWCAST
The left slot can read the sky instead of the clock: "rain in 14 min",
"raining now", or "no rain expected", from precipitation radar. Choose how far
it looks — 30, 90 or 180 minutes. Off by default; it is the one feature that
costs battery.
WEATHER, BATTERY, TIME
Weather: real condition icon, temperature, wind speed with an arrow for where
it is going, pressure. No bearing yet? A dash, not an invented arrow.
Battery: six bars plus a figure — percent, or the days of charge left. A plus
means charging.
Time: Chakra Petch tabular digits that never shift sideways. Home zone and
seconds while awake, a second time zone or the rain slot beside it.
SIX MORE SLOTS
Three metrics with icons, three labelled values below — sixteen choices each:
heart rate, Body Battery, stress, Pulse Ox, respiration, VO2 max, steps,
calories, climb, distance, active minutes, altitude, pressure, notifications,
battery. Unread messages get their own mark.
HOLD ANYTHING TO OPEN IT
Touch and hold any part of the dial and the matching Garmin glance opens — the
weather, a metric, a gauge, the graph.
BUILT NOT TO BREAK
Every reading is optional. No weather, no heart rate, a watch five minutes old
— the face shows a dash. Switch a row off and the rest close the gap instead of
leaving a hole. Always-on is a real dim layer, under 5 % of pixels lit, with an
optional anti burn-in drift.
Settings in eight languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian,
Portuguese, Russian, simplified Chinese.
FREE
The whole face, every reading, nothing held back and nothing to pay. It may not
stay free forever, but it is now.
The only thing that ever reaches the network is the rain slot, and only if you
switch it on. Otherwise nothing leaves the watch.
