READ THIS FIRST: THIS APP NEEDS A GOLF SYNC ACCOUNT Golf Sync for Garmin is a companion app for the Golf Sync scoring platform. It cannot be used on its own. You need all three of these: - a Golf Sync account - a tournament or league round that is being run in Golf Sync, with you registered in it - your paired phone nearby with Garmin Connect running, so the watch can reach Golf Sync If your event is not scored in Golf Sync, this app shows "No round today" and can do nothing else. Please do not install it expecting a standalone scorecard. WHAT IT DOES Keeps your round's scoring on your wrist instead of your phone. You enter strokes hole by hole, and the score goes to the same Golf Sync round your organizer and the field are looking at. Between holes you see where you stand without taking your phone out of the bag. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No GPS. No yardages, course maps, green view, hazards or shot tracking. Your Garmin's built-in golf software already does all of that and this app does not replace or duplicate it. This is a scorecard and a leaderboard for a Golf Sync event, nothing more. The only permission it requests is Communications, to reach the Golf Sync server. PAIRING Open Golf Sync in a web browser and display your six-digit watch code. On the watch, UP and DOWN change the highlighted digit and SELECT moves to the next; SELECT on the last digit pairs. There is no password to type on a watch keyboard. The watch stores a limited token that can only post scores for that one round. Signing your card ends it, so you pair again before your next event — a watch left in a drawer is not holding a live credential. You can also unpair at any time from Golf Sync on the web. If a pairing ends, the watch says PAIRING EXPIRED and a long press takes you back to the code screen. Anything you already entered stays saved on the watch and is sent once you pair again. THREE PAGES, cycled with BACK. SCORE - the hole you are on, with par when the organizer has entered it. UP and DOWN change the number, SELECT saves and advances. Under par shows red, over par orange, and BIRDIE/PAR/BOGEY wording appears only when par is actually known. A stroke you receive is marked on the hole that gets it. The bottom line says "Saved" or names the holes still waiting to send. STANDING - your position, score to par, holes played, your handicap, plus points, quota target or side-game lines when your event uses them, and the rest of your group. Every figure is calculated by Golf Sync on the server, so the watch always matches what the organizer sees. CARD - your total, OUT and IN. Press and hold to jump to any hole. Shotgun starts, replayed holes and corrections all work. TEAM AND SCRAMBLE ROUNDS If your event uses one shared card per side (a scramble, say), the score page says TEAM SCORE, names your team and lists your teammates. Any teammate can enter the card from their own watch, which is how hand-offs actually happen on the course. The watch shows who entered a hole and asks before you overwrite someone else's number. Your own corrections are never questioned. Individual or shared team card is decided by Golf Sync from your event's format. There is nothing to configure on the watch. WHEN THE SIGNAL DROPS A stroke is written to the watch's storage the moment you press SELECT, before any attempt to send it. Nothing is removed until Golf Sync confirms it, so a dead corner of the course does not cost you a score. The watch retries while the app is open and names the holes still waiting. Open the app again after the round if anything is queued. PRIVACY The app sends the strokes you enter, your hole number and your event, and receives your round and standings. It uses no GPS, activity data, sensors or Garmin profile data. The pairing can be revoked from Golf Sync on the web at any time, and that immediately stops this watch from posting anything.
