About

Share tracks prepared in your favorite route-planning app (Locus https://www.locusmap.app, OsmAnd https://osmand.net, Garmin Explore, ...) with your Garmin device. Just whip up the track in your favorite route planner, share it (as FIT/GPX file) with the device using the 'Track Share' companion app (C/App) in the 'share' dialog (currently on Android only), then use it there. No Internet you need for that (but a connection over WiFi might speed up the transmitting of course). NOTE: THE ANDROID COMPANION APP IS BEING TESTED NOW, sorry There are 2 versions of the CIQ 'Track Share' - App and Widget: - the App version (https://apps.garmin.com/apps/eb66b757-bd39-4fc2-be01-f401b777f115) can be executed remotely by the C/App when the track starts to be shared. But no app can be executed during an ongoing activity on watches, this possibility is available for Edge devices only. - the Widget version might help you to share the track during the ongoing activity. But the C/App could not start it remotely. And it is not convenient to start widgets in Edge devices. So for Edge devices it is better to install the App version, for watches - Widget. For outdoor devices - no idea yet. # Note: To share the track with outdoor devices, you possibly need to switch the 'Convert and export GPX as FIT' option in the C/App OFF. Meanwhile Fitness and Edge devices prefer the .FIT format, so make the switch ON for them. OPTIONS of GPX2FIT conversion: = 'Course time estimation' - if the route planner does not provide time marks on the track waypoints, the app shall calculate them during GPX-FIT transformation. You may define average speed to be used for this calculation. For walking/running activity it is possible to take an inclination grade into account - by 'Use walking grade' option. = 'Mark every ...' - every km/hour on the route is marked. The options might be useful to visualize a 'scale' of the route. = 'Remove Direction pts' - route planners put guiding directions as course points with direction commands, impossible to skip during export, but you may remove them during the conversion. = 'Limit number of pts' - use it if your device does not support much points. = 'Rename' - to rename the course with one of the pre-formated names. Garmin device normally overwrites a course with the same name with the latest 'version' of it. So based on one of the following options you have: === date-time - all the shared tracks are saved, === @route planner - all the shared tracks 'groupped' by route planner created the track, === 'Track Share' - only the latest shared track in your course collection on the Device. Please let me know if you find anything not working as supposed. # Credits: - Cover icon author: Payungkead (see https://www.flaticon.com/ru/authors/payungkead) - Banner pic author: Glenn Jones (see https://glennz.threadless.com)
