Power Gauge
· v3.2
About
Before installing, please make sure your device is running the latest firmware version. Connect the device to a computer running Garmin Express to check for firmware updates.
Displays a graphical gauge showing current (1s (instant)/3s/10s/30s average) power. Power zones are displayed, highlighting the current power zone. A separate gauge registers the maximum average power registered during the activity. A graph is displayed in the background showing the power graph, color coded by zones for the last ninety seconds (based on the selected average value) .
The current lap timer is now accessible from Connect IQ custom data fields and is displayed instead of the %ftp value. Many users have requested this as the lap time is useful for interval training.
The data field supports the following settings:
- The maximum value of the power scale display (300-2000 watts - rounded to the nearest 50 watts)
- The minimum value of the power scale display (0-200 watts - rounded to the nearest 50 watts)
- Averaging period for the displayed power value (1s/3s/10s/30s)
- Selection of an additional data item to display (Laptime / % of FTP / Current Cadence / Current Speed / Heart Rate )
- The Functional Threshold Power for the user
- Percentages of FTP for the user's power zones (z1-z7)
Note that you need to set your FTP and zones in the settings for the app as the app can not access the FTP/zone data that you may have set on your device. This is a limitation in the Garmin Connect IQ framework.
By configuring the minimum and maximum display scale values you can zoom in on the most relevant power zones for your training.
** PLEASE NOTE ** that power zone values are entered in percentages of your FTP - NOT WATTS. I.e. an entry of 100 corresponds to your FTP value. As your FTP changes you only need to update the FTP value.
The data field can be displayed on screens with a 1 field layout on the EDGE 520/820 and fénix series. Layouts with 1 or 2 fields are supported on the EDGE 10xx series. For layouts with more fields, only the power and current zone are displayed.
