The aurora oval is live NOAA data, not decoration: on calm days, or when the auroral zone sits in daylight (like the Arctic summer), it can look faint even at a moderate Kp; when real activity picks up, it glows from green to violet. The Kp meter always shows the current level so you know what's happening. Prefer a clean map? Hide the ISS with a single toggle.
