About

HBD - Heart Beat Distance HBD is a data field that computes the distance travelled per individual heart-beat. Inspired by the Physiological Cost Index (PCI), HBD provides a simple yet effective measure to gauge how efficiently your heart is able to support physical activity. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/307039274_Estimation_of_Physiological_Cost_Index_as_an_Energy_Expenditure_Index_using_MacGregor's_Equation A higher HBD value indicates more efficient cardiovascular performance, as more distance is covered per heartbeat. Conversely, a lower HBD value might suggest inefficiency, fatigue, or increased cardiovascular strain. CALCULATION MODES: 1. Standard HBD (Gross): HBD [m/b] = Velocity [m/s] / HeartRate [b/s] This is the default calculation based on your total heart rate. 2. Net HBD (Optional Setting): HBD_net [m/b] = Velocity [m/s] / (HeartRate - Resting_HR) [b/s] By enabling the optional Resting Heart Rate (RHR) integration, the formula isolates the cardiac effort specifically dedicated to the exercise. This provides a "Net" efficiency score by filtering out your baseline metabolic pulse. WHY MONITOR HBD? * Track Fitness: Monitor your cardiovascular efficiency gains over time. * Recovery Tool: A lower than usual HBD during standard routines can be an early indicator of overtraining, dehydration, or oncoming illness.

What's new

Version: 1.2.2 added new devices built with connect IQ 8.4.1 Version: 1.2.1 Bug fix Version: 1.2.0 New option setting: 'Use Power Instead of Velocity (Experimental)' By enabling this option, the HBD ratio is calculated using power rather than velocity. This alternative approach can be useful in scenarios where measuring speed is not practical, shifting the focus to the work done during physical activity. Version: 1.1.3 Average HBD can be seen on Statistics view at the end of the session.
