SEISME

A drum seismograph for the body. Your day is written as a trace around the dial and the stylus marks the time. SEISME is a recording instrument that happens to tell the time. A circular drum track rings the dial, divided into twenty four sectors. Your chosen channel is sampled through the day and drawn as a continuous trace around it: everything behind the stylus is today, already recorded, and everything ahead is empty track. The stylus itself is a bright radial line at the current time, so reading the clock is reading the instrument. At the centre sits the data plate, an inverted panel carrying the time in the largest type that fits, with two calibration strips below it for step goal and Body Battery, and the date beneath. You tune it the way you would tune a real seismograph. Choose the channel it records, stress or heart rate or altitude, set the gain, or let it scale itself to the range the day actually produced, and choose whether the drum turns once a day or twice. On always on displays the plate is replaced with plain text on black, because a filled panel held in one position burns an emissive panel.
