About

Point your wrist. Read the ridgeline. Peak Finder turns your Garmin into a live compass panorama of the summits and alpine huts around you. Names float above each peak as you face it. Zero setup needed. It automatically finds the mountain peaks and huts around you and shows up to 80 of them. Built to be offline. First time in a new area, it pulls peaks from OpenStreetMap and caches them on the watch. After that no phone needed. Travel to a new range and it quietly grabs that one too. The glance, reimagined. A clean compass strip with cardinals, your heading, your altitude, and the nearest peak ahead. A stylish drop-in replacement for the stock Garmin compass glance. Worldwide coverage. Alps to Andes, Cascades to Carpathians, plus the no-name hill you've been staring at every morning. Cycle peaks left-to-right with the buttons. Zoom in for a tighter view. For everyone who's pointed at a skyline and asked what's that one? IMPORTANT: The app uses the compass on your watch. The compass needs to be calibrated from time to time. Calibrate compass before use for best results! If also like to have a data field for activities, check out this version: https://apps.garmin.com/apps/ba0dd7c3-ae67-454a-98b7-e1b01d14b873 I would have liked to have them in the same app, but it's not possible due to Garmin limitations. =========== About ============= Peak Finder fetches data from the OpenStreetMap database. The first time in a new area it requires a phone and internet conection. It fetches up to 80 peaks around you (hardware limitation). It allows you to filter peaks by distance to you and height above sea level. It also has zoom levels so you can see the peaks more clearly. The way it works is that it it first fetches peaks in your closest vicinity and shows them. Then it does a wider scan. It goes even wider until it reaches the limit of 80 peaks. If you are in a very mountainous area and want to see peaks that are far away, use the height filters, otherwise it would be limited to peaks that are only close by. ===============================
