RECON

RECON is a tactical watch face for Instinct 3 Solar, engineered pixel-by-pixel for the 1-bit MIP display. FEATURES - Large 7-segment digital time: custom-built font with 4 selectable styles (7-Seg / Bold / DIN / 14-Seg LCD with ghost segments) - Analog subdial with 9 designs: RECON (tactical), FIELD, FLIEGER, BAUHAUS, GSHOCK, DIVER, MONDAINE, NAVIGATOR (24h numerals), and APEX, a scientifically designed hi-visibility dial readable at a glance from a distance - Full weather cluster: temperature, feels-like, humidity, precipitation chance, wind speed, and a 5-level barometric pressure trend with physically calibrated thresholds - Health at a glance: heart rate, respiration or stress (selectable), Body Battery, steps, watch battery. Critical values blink to catch your eye - Sunrise/sunset marker on the subdial (hollow = sunrise, filled = sunset) - Units and formats to match how you read: temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, pressure in hPa, mmHg or inHg, date as MM.DD or DD.MM. Most of these were added because someone asked in a review - USB charging and solar-intensity indicators - Date + weekday, live seconds - Settings on the watch itself AND from Garmin Connect - Battery-friendly: weather caching, minimal redraws, no per-second full refresh Pure black and white. No gray, no dithering compromises. Built for sunlight and night. From the same maker: ZULU — a military digital face built on light data (BMNT/EENT, moonrise, moon arc, MGRS grid). ZULU ANALOG — the ana-digi sibling with the same astro dial on an analog movement.

v1.4.1 - Date order: choose month first (08.19, as before) or day first (19.08), the common European order — in Garmin Connect or the on-watch settings menu. Applies to all four time fonts. Thanks CW for asking! v1.4.0 — distance legibility rework of the 7-segment time. - Digits now have real spacing between them. Previously the advance equalled the ink width, so at arm's length the four digits ran together into one block. Measured digit separation at 1m went from 0.14 to 0.75. - Daytime (black on the white panel) now uses a slightly heavier stroke than night. On a reflective display the white background eats into black strokes (irradiation), so the same font that is correct at night reads thin in daylight. Daytime contrast retention at 1m improved from 0.30 to 0.42. - Ghost segments regenerated to match the new spacing. Night stroke weight is deliberately unchanged. Method follows Beier (2016) on distance reading, with the day/night asymmetry from Zwahlen (1995) and the spacing effect from Case (1952) / Soloman (1956). v1.3.1 - Pressure units: hPa (default), mmHg, or inHg. The 5-level trend arrow keeps its thresholds calibrated in hPa. v1.3.0 — three customization options from review requests. Every default matches the previous behaviour. - Clock Panel: Auto (day/night), Always Dark, or Always Light. - Battery Readout: days remaining or percentage. - Seconds Display: "On Gesture" to skip the per-second redraw and save battery. v1.2.0 - Temperature units: Auto, Celsius, or Fahrenheit. v1.1.0 - New APEX subdial style: a hi-visibility analog dial designed for at-a-glance readability from a distance.
