Battery Monitor

BatteryMonitor is a widget that displays statistics about a Garmin's device battery as well as projecting the time until depleted and the solar intensity if the device supports that feature. It's a great app if you want to figure out how much battery drain a specific activity, tasks of event is taking as well as your daily battery drain. Because of the features that were added to this app since its creation, the limited space (4K) available to write a description here isn't enough to cover all the features this simple widget now have. There is the changelog below that includes the latest additions (again, not enough room for all the additions in the "What's new" below) and to have a more detailed view of the features (and to get the full changelog), click here to read the README file from github. https://github.com/SylvainGa/BatteryMonitor/blob/main/README.md If you see "Launch App" in the Glance view, launch the app and WAIT for data to start being captured so a rudimentary projection can be achieved. Below is a overview of its features: - Can be launched from a Complication enabled watch faces that support launching custom Complications (Like Crystal-Tesla). - Glance view shows battery level, discharge rate and projected time left. - There are 7 different views, two of them show battery level as a chart (history and projected). - The history view can be zoomed in and panned. Works for both button and touch devices. - A blue line under the graph means that an activity was occurring during that time sample. - A red line shows the solar intensity seen at that time (for watch having solar charging capacity). - A white vertical lines shows where you've set a marker. - A 'Charging' popup appears when charging showing the charging rate, which is helpful to know when you'll get enough charge to unplug and go do your activity. - Can store several weeks of data (configurable) for better accuracy when projecting discharge rate. It uses a linear least squares fit method to average all the recorded downtrends to find the most accurate projection until depleted. - Data points are captured once every five minutes (configurable) when the application isn't active and once every minute when the application is active (either through the main view or its glance view). - The order and visibility of each view, the time between interval, the number of data elements to keep can be configured through the app's Settings. PLEASE NOTE: Battery drain projection differs from what Garmin do. Garmin simply look at the current discharge and project for its current use, either being at a watch face or an app. App with GPS will show the battery being drained much faster. This app uses the usage history over several days/weeks to project the discharge rate. BUT YOU MUST LET THE APP GATHER DATA FOR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE A MEANINGFUL PROJECTION CAN BE DISPLAYED. CAVEAT 1: Using swipe gestures in a widget is something problematic, more so on some devices. The experience in the simulator and the real device can be different, as it is for my Fenix 7S Pro. CAVEAT 2: This app can be quite CPU intensive, especially when showing the graphs with lots of data. It's intensive enough that on some devices, at the default stored elements (2500, configurable in Settings), the app might crash with the line "Watchdog Tripped Error - Code Executed Too Long" in CIQ_LOG file. Keep in mind these crashes are happening on devices other than mine so they are harder to pin points, correct. - Crash fix when erasing data - Crash fix when setting a marker - Crash fix when closing the app V1.11.0 Added the following - Added devices Edge 550, 850 and Fenix 8 Pro 47 mm. - Unfortunately, because of the limited memory capacity of the Glance code for some not so old devices, I had to remove the following devices from the supported list: descentmk2, descentmk2s, fenix6pro, fenix6spro, fenix6xpro, fr245m, fr745, fr945, fr945lte, marqadventurer, marqathlete, marqaviator, marqcaptain, marqcommander, marqdriver, marqexpedition, marqgolfer. Having just 32KB of Glance code/data isn't enough to capture even just a few hours of history from the background process. - Because even devices with 64KB of Glance code shows limitation when capturing less than a day of history from the background process, to warn the user that the resolution will be impacted if the main app isn't launched soon, the time left in the glance view will be YELLOW instead of white. When you see that, launch the main view and the data will be processed. When this change RED instead, data accuracy has been reduced to preserve memory and prevent crash caused by out of memory. This is for the FAST launch mode. In the WHOLE launch mode, data has already been processed by the Glance code. - In Glance, battery level is shown while Please Wait is shown so you see it right away.
