About

Real-time road grade with Tour de France-style color zones, right on your Garmin Edge. Grade with Color shows the current uphill grade (%) in large, easy-to-read digits and colors the number by difficulty zone — yellow (easy climb), orange (moderate), red (steep), purple (very steep). Downhill shows a neutral color so you know instantly when the road flips. WHY IT'S BETTER: • Responsive grade — uses a Kalman filter on the barometer altitude to estimate vertical speed and compute grade = vertical speed / horizontal speed. It reacts faster than simple distance-window calculations and stays stable. • Adjustable smoothing — three presets (Fast / Balanced / Smooth) tune response vs stability to match how you ride. • Custom zone thresholds — set the % boundaries for the 4 uphill color zones and the climb "start" threshold. • Current altitude — small readout in the corner so you always know your elevation. • Theme-aware — auto switches between light (day) and black (night) backgrounds following your device color theme. USES: • Ride climbs and see at a glance whether you are on an easy 4% or a brutal 10%+. • Pace yourself on long mountain stages — the color tells you when to ease off before it hurts. • Quick altitude reference without a dedicated field. FEATURES: • Large digits with unit (%), bottom-aligned baseline. • 4 uphill color zones (default 3/6/9/13%, all adjustable). • Downhill / flat shown in neutral color; only uphill gets color. • Metric and imperial altitude (m / ft) follows device units. • Low battery impact — runs once per second. COMPATIBILITY: • Edge 540 / 840 / MTB / 1040 / 550 / 850 / 1050. PRIVACY: This data field reads sensor data locally on your device and does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
