**NOTES FOR GARMIN REVIEWERS** The app uses BLE to communicate with the smartphone. It also includes the Mock/Demo mode. To actiavte it, long press up button on fenix 8 and set the Demo data ON Phone in the pocket. Hunt on the watch. Start and stop tracks, drop field markers, and follow hike-to-point guidance without ever pulling out your phone. Kavik rides along on Apple Watch, Wear OS and Garmin.

1.0.119 The watch now navigates on its own: while following a hike-to-point, it uses its own GPS to compute bearing and distance — guidance keeps working even when your phone is pocketed or out of reach. (This is why this update requests the new Positioning permission; the GPS runs only during an active hike.) Altitude now reads the watch's barometric sensor first, and weather can fall back to Garmin's own forecast when the phone is unreachable. The app opens populated — your last known hunt info (GPS mode, hunting hours, weather, altitude) is remembered between sessions. Fewer interruptions: marker drops and track commands from the wrist now reach a backgrounded phone silently; the "Kavik wants to open…" Connect IQ prompt only appears as a last resort if the phone app was fully closed. Marker picker improvements: the icon wheel wraps in both directions and grades sizes around your selection. Big reduction in Bluetooth chatter — better battery on both the watch and the phone. Permission explanations Positioning (new in this version) — "Used only while following hike-to-a-point guidance: the watch computes bearing and distance to your destination with its own GPS so guidance continues when the paired phone is unreachable. GPS is off at all other times. Position data is processed on the watch and shared only with the user's own Kavik phone app — never with third parties." Communications — "Exchanges data with the companion Kavik phone app through Garmin Connect: dropping markers, starting/stopping track recording, and receiving weather, hunting hours, and guidance state." Sensor — "Reads the watch's barometric altimeter and compass to show altitude and heading on the wrist."
