About

CatchUp is the training-load monitoring app used by our team. This data field does one thing: while you train it records how long your heart spends at each beat, and when the session ends it sends everything to CatchUp on its own. Nothing to open, nothing to remember: start your Garmin activity the way you always have. WHAT IT SENDS - Moving time, distance, activity type - Average and maximum heart rate - Time spent at every single heart rate value - Power, elevation gain, cadence and calories, where the activity provides them In CatchUp you only add the three subjective effort ratings. WHY THE FULL HEART RATE SERIES Internal load computed from average heart rate alone underestimates interval sessions, because the underlying function is convex: two workouts with the same average but different structure do not cost the same. With the time spent at each beat, load is computed sample by sample — and the difference shows. HOW TO SET IT UP 1. Install the data field 2. In CatchUp: Settings → Garmin watch → Connect, get the six-digit code 3. Enter it in this data field's settings, inside Garmin Connect 4. Add the field to a data screen of the activities you use Then just train. NOTES - A CatchUp account is required: without one there is nowhere to send - Data is sent after the activity ends, and stays queued until the phone is reachable - You can unlink the watch at any time from the app - No location data is collected or transmitted
