Multisport Deluxe
· v2.1.4
About
This is a more robust multisport app, including some nice features going beyond those of the stock multisport (triathlon) app.
During a race, it is more often experienced that a button is unintentionally pushed, which is very annoying. For example during the swim, where in the heat of the fight someone else hits your watch or during the bike if you hit your extensions with your watch. It concerns in the stock Garmin Triathlon app the select-button which pauses an activity, as well as the back-button to change activity. Garmin has tried to solve this problem with the newer watches in adding „bumps“ adjacent (only) to the select button. This app solves the problem in an alternative and conclusive way.
To change activity (an activity is also called „leg“), you push the select-button but you have to confirm that with a second push within some seconds. The chance that the button is unintentionally hit twice within a couple of seconds is practically nill. If you do not confirm, the leg just continues as if nothing happened.
Further functions which you won't find in the stock multisport app:
- Upto 10 fields per datascreen.
- Laps
- 3 different changeable configurations, each of which having upto 47 legs (such that the ötillö WC can be recorded).
The app is not only intended for races, but can be used also for training. For that reason you can set one configuration to for example a brick (bike; transition; run). You can also have only one activity in a configuration.
The app should be in principle self-explaining having the same look and feel of other Garmin apps, but a couple of things are mentioned here below:
Only the values of the units are shown in the datascreens of an activity. The units (km/h for example) are not shown directly in the datascreens: but you can see them if you hold the menu-button (see the screen images here below). In this way there is more space for the values, during an activity you normally know which is which. If you’re unsure, as mentioned, hold the menu-button.
Confirmation function.
Here above it was already explained how to confirm a change of legs.
In fact, after the select-button was pushed during an activity, you have 4 possibilities:
1. Push the select-button again to change legs, as explained here above. At the last leg, the multisport recording ends.
2. Push the back-button to change laps
3. Push the down-button to pause.
4. Push the up-button to directly exit the app.
5. Do nothing: the leg continues after a couple of seconds as if nothing happened (this happens after an unintentional push)
The possibility to exit the app directly is introduced when for example you sit on the couch and play around with the app. Since every leg has to last at least 5s, it could be annoying to click through all of the legs to end the app. Choosing the direct exit function solves that problem.
History function.
The app has an own history function but the Garmin History also works. In the Garmin History though, the multisport recording is recorded per leg rather than per multisport.
On your phone or computer, Garmin Connect shows as usually graphs of the multisport recording.
The app history only shows the last 10 multisports and will automatically, without warning, overwrite the oldest one.
