About

Being tired of finding an app that fits a square display and shows what is essentially needed for a hike, this app is specifically engineered for the Venu Sq. It replaces cluttered screens with a custom grid that puts vital statistics exactly where they are needed. Key Features: Intelligent Dashboard: A clean layout centered around a dynamic Heart Rate badge that changes color (Blue, Green, Orange, Red) based on your effort levels. Smart GPS Management: The activity remains in "Waiting" mode until a solid GPS fix is acquired, then automatically starts—no more manual fiddling at the trailhead. Refined Ascent Tracking: Includes a custom "5-meter gate" filter. This ensures your total ascent reflects actual climbing by ignoring minor GPS altitude "jitter" while you are stationary. Automatic Lap Summaries: Optional vibration alerts every 1km (or 1mi) with a brief summary of your progress. All Settings In-App: Toggle units, colors, and alerts directly on the watch without needing the Garmin Connect IQ phone app. Data Fields Included: Top Row: Duration & Total Distance (km/mi). Center Row: Heart Rate (with Zone color), Total Ascent (m/ft) & Current Elevation (m/ft). Bottom Row: Average Speed & Real-time Speed (km/h or mph). Customization: Dark & Light Modes: Toggle between high-visibility white or battery-saving black backgrounds. Units: Switch between Metric and Statute (Imperial) directly within the app. Lap Alerts: Enable or disable automatic kilometer/mile notifications. Instructions for Use: Start: Open the app and wait for the GPS bars in the status bar to turn green. The activity will start automatically once a solid fix is found. Main Menu (Pause/Save/Discard): Press the Action (top right) button. Settings & About: Press the Back (bottom right) button to access the settings menu and app information. Locking: For best results under jacket sleeves, use the watch's native system lock (long-press the side button) to prevent accidental screen touches.

What's new

Version 3.3 Release Notes New Features: Lap Alerts: Added a vibration alert and summary screen every 1km (or 1mi) to track your pacing. GPS Status: Added a dynamic signal strength bar (0-4 bars) to the status bar so you know exactly when you have a lock. About Screen: Added a new menu item to view version info and system settings. Improvements & Optimizations: Altitude Accuracy: Switched to System Calibrated Altitude (Geoid corrected) to eliminate offsets. Elevation readings now match official trailhead markers and Garmin Connect data. Smart Battery Saver: Optimized the display and GPS polling when your wrist is down, significantly extending battery life during long hikes. Ascent Filter: Refined the 5-meter hysteresis algorithm to filter out GPS noise, ensuring your "Total Ascent" counts actual climbing, not sensor drift. Removed the built in locking mechanism, fall back to the Garmin generic settings Bug Fixes: Fixed an issue where the Heart Rate display could freeze during long activities. Fixed a "Ghost Session" bug where sensors might remain active after saving a hike. Improved screen refresh responsiveness when raising the wrist. --- Initial public release (v3.0) Optimized grid layout for Venu Sq series with custom vertical/horizontal dividers. Integrated color-coded Heart Rate badge Automatic GPS-based activity start and reliable button-based locking mechanism. Feel free to comment with bugs and feature requests. Love this app ?
