SwimSet - build & swim your set
· v1.3.4
About
SwimSet turns the set you'd scribble on the pool deck into a guided pool swim on your watch. No coach, no printout, no Training-API hoops.
Build your session in the free SwimSet web app (swimset.app): warm-up to cool-down, with live distance, time and send-off maths. Hit "Watch code", paste the code into this app's settings in Garmin Connect, then open SwimSet on your watch. Your set is waiting.
In the pool, SwimSet walks you through the set one rep at a time, with the current distance, stroke and send-off on your wrist. The watch counts lengths on its own; if it misses one (kick and drill sets are the usual culprits), press lap once to add it. There's also a full manual mode where the lap key counts every length, for pools and watches that never quite get along. Either way the swim saves as a native Pool Swim activity with the right distance.
And because the whole set is on the screen in front of you, SwimSet works just as well when you can't hear a coach on deck.
Free. No account. Works on Garmin watches with native pool-swim support.
Coming soon: the SwimSet phone app, which builds the set on your phone and pushes it to the watch over Bluetooth in one tap.
What's new
v1.3.4 - Adds a "Lap button only" option in the swim menu. A wet touchscreen can trigger accidental taps that skip your set ahead in the pool, so turn this on to ignore screen taps and use only the watch button for counting lengths. Off by default, and it only appears on watches with a touchscreen.
v1.3.3 - Fixes the distance jumping when you switch between automatic and manual length counting during a swim. Your total now carries across the switch instead of appearing to reset.
v1.3.2 - Fixes two crashes when starting a swim. Older watches like the Forerunner 935 closed as soon as you started any activity. Sets, free swim and open water all record properly again.
v1.3.1 - Free swim now lets you set a custom pool length, not just the presets, so odd-sized community, hotel and school pools work too. Pick "Custom" after choosing Free swim and set any length on the watch. Your choice is remembered for next time.
v.1.3.0 - Free swim. If you just want to swim without building a set, start SwimSet, pick Free swim, and choose your pool length right on the watch. It records a normal pool swim with live lengths, distance and time, no set or phone needed. The start screen is also clearer about how to get a set onto your watch, and marking a length by hand now gives a clear buzz and a quick flash so you know it registered.
v1.2.2 - SwimSet now works properly on touch-screen watches like the Venu, Venu Sq and Vivoactive. Tap the screen to log a length or mark a lap, and start open-water mode with a tap, so you no longer need the lap or menu buttons these watches don't have.
v1.2.1 - Open Water mode now shows live heart rate on the watch, alongside time and distance. HR is the number that holds up whether you're in a pool or out in open water, where the GPS distance is always a rough guide.
