Compass and GPS Heading Widget
· v2.1
About
My work will stay free of course, but if you would like to donate and support me: https://www.paypal.me/FlipStone
(I was an idiot and actually had a wrong paypal link here before, fixed now :/ )
-----------------
This is a widget which displays a compass using the internal sensor and the current time. After getting a GPS fix also shows the heading, altitude and speed.
If a GPS fix is there pressing start, or touching the screen for touchscreen-watches, you will get information such as latitude and longitude, heading in degrees and radians.
The units displayed depend on the global settings on the watch and not specific settings are possible or necessary in the widget.
This widget was primarily made because I missed a similar one from the 735xt ;) Please note that this is one of the first real things I made for connectIQ and while I hope it all works, and I have tested it for the non 935-watches on the emulator, things might still be going wrong. Please let me know if this is the case...
[Features]
- Upon starting this widget it will at first show heading and compass using the internal sensor while waiting for a GPS fix as well as the current time
* The compass will also show an offset in degrees from the nearest general direction (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW).
- After a GPS fix is found this will be used for the following information:
* Altitude (in meters or feet, depending on settings for the watch)
* Speed (in km/h or mph, depending on settings for watch)
* Speed and direction/offset are colored based on GPS signal (Green=good, orange=usable, red=bad/unavailable). In practise it's always green it seems though.
* Touching the display or pressing start button will show another screen with the compass but also lat, long, rad and deg values.
The compass will still be based on the internal sensor, so that it is displayed properly even when rotating the watch (while the heading will be based on the movement gotten from GPS).
What's new
-2.1
Added label for glance mode and fixed exit bug
-2.0
Added more supported models
-1.9
Added option to disable in app toggling of compass layout (to prevent accidental switching)
-1.8
Extended device support
-1.7
Fixed inner heading label when compass was inverted
-1.6 Pressing start (or tapping the screen) now always toggles between the different screens (when a fix is acquired). Tapping/pressing twice quickly (within a second) also flips the compass when this option is enabled in settings.
-1.5 Added support for more devices
-1.4
Added Location Permission
- 1.3
Added possibility to toggle priority between main bearing (340 degrees in screen) and general/directional bearing (N -19 degrees in screen) determining which one is displayed in the big font and at the top.
-1.22
Added Descent Mk1 and D2 Charlie support
- 1.2.1
Added Vivoactive 3, Forerunner 645 and Forerunner 645 music as compatible devices
- 1.2
Added possibility to toggle compass ring (after reports of it being 'upside down' for certain people, hemisphere related?).
Either adjust the setting in garmin express app or mobile app OR:
Press start quickly 2 times (within a second) in Lat/Longitue mode (or main compass mode without gps lock) to invert compass ring (and back). Setting should automatically be stored for next time...It's a bit of a dirty fix because I am not sure of the cause but this should be a pretty general fix.
- 1.1
Added support for Approach S60
Minor layout tweaks to keep everything displayed properly across devices
- 1.0.1
Added heading in degrees (as opposed to just offset) in main screen. Offset is now (still) displayed behind the 'N, S, E, W' label.
Replaced radian field in detailed settings for Speed + heading
