About
HAPTIC PULSE
Heartbeat-like pulses, guided breathing and tactile rhythms, felt on your wrist.
Haptics means patterns of vibration you feel on your wrist. Haptic Pulse uses the vibration motor in your Garmin watch to create physical cues you can follow. Follow a heartbeat-like pulse, breathe with guided vibration, or explore and create tactile rhythms without sound, headphones or repeated screen checks.
No phone is needed during a session.
PULSE
Follow a repeating, heartbeat-like vibration pattern.
Adaptive mode sets the vibration rate to 70–100% of your measured wrist heart rate, (with 80% as the default). Alternatively, choose a fixed manual rate.
- Adaptive rate: 70–100% of measured heart rate
- Manual rate: 40–100 pulses per minute
- Four heartbeat-like vibration patterns
- Haptic rate changes as your heart-rate reading changes
BREATHE
Vibrations guide you through each inhale, hold, exhale and pause, accompanied by a simple visual guide.
Choose one of four presets or create your own timing.
- Four breathing presets
- Custom inhale, hold, exhale and pause timing
- Simple visual breathing guide
RHYTHMS
Explore 16 patterns of short and long vibrations, each with its own tempo and character. Compare how they feel or create your own.
Tap out a 3–5-second pattern and save it on your watch.
- 16 built-in rhythms
- Slow, medium and fast patterns
- Up to three saved personal rhythms
WHEN MIGHT YOU USE IT?
Before a demanding moment. During focused work or meditation. While winding down. Or simply because you are curious about how different rhythms make you feel.
There is no prescribed exercise and nothing you need to achieve. Choose the mode that suits the moment.
BEFORE AND AFTER
If available, Haptic Pulse samples heart-rate and stress readings before and after a session and displays the available values for comparison. Availability depends on your watch and the sensor data available at the time.
These readings are for reference only, and the app does not interpret the changes or evaluate the session.
QUIET AND PRIVATE BY DESIGN
The cues stay on your wrist and are designed to be followed without repeated screen checks.
No account, advertising, analytics, tracking or network access. Heart-rate and stress data are processed locally on the watch and are not transmitted by Haptic Pulse.
Settings and personal rhythms also remain on the watch.
RESEARCH-INSPIRED
Pulse mode was inspired by published research on heartbeat-like haptic feedback and slower tactile rhythms. Selected references are available on the apps home page.
Haptic Pulse has not itself been evaluated in a scientific study. Findings from the referenced research should not be assumed to apply to this app. Research background and references: haptic-pulse.com
PLEASE NOTE
Haptic Pulse is a wellness app, not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, monitor or treat any medical condition.
Haptics are personal. If a pattern feels uncomfortable or distracting, change it or stop the session.
What's new
- Added Haptic Breathing patterns (4 patterns + Personal mode which lets you create your own breathing rhythm.
- Added haptic Rhythms, which are different vibration patterns, each with their own characteristics.
- Added option for the user to create their own haptic rhythms as 3-5 second repeating loops.
