Weather Radar Widget - w/Free 21 Day Trial
· v4.38
About
If you have problems, use the contact developer link before leaving a review (PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN THE MESSAGE IF YOU WANT A RESPONSE). Make sure you have updated to the latest version!
Every new device install will get a free 21 day full function trial to make sure the widget will work on your device and in your area. This is a registered app and requires a nominal ($3USD) annual subscription to operate after the trial is complete. The first time the widget is started on a device, the trial window will be locked and will not change. This widget will download the current radar image from either AerisWeather or RainViewer and display it on the screen based on the device’s position. It requires a connection to your phone and is dependent on a connection to the internet and being able to get a GPS location. It is best to run while outside the first time, then you can save your position for future use.

NEW! The features of the widget have been released in a full CIQ app. The app will display as full screen on all devices and will not time out like the widget. When open, the app will auto refresh the image every 5 minutes. One subscription will unlock both the widget and app version of Weather Radar. If you have already registered for the widget you can use the same account to also unlock the app. Looking for the Weather Radar App? - https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/bddf48af-bbdb-425c-bc7f-34309e529a2e
Going forward, new devices that are based on CIQ 4.x and above (Venu2/2s/2+, Fenix 7/7s/7x, and Epix 2) will only be supported via the Weather Radar App. Venu2/2s owners please consider replacing your widget install with the app version as a future update will remove support for these devices from the widget, as the app version provides the same features.
If you have problems, please check the forum post for detailed instructions or use the contact developer link. It is much easier to share troubleshooting information. Known behaviors:
-When the widget first starts, it attempts to get the current position via GPS. On watch devices, it will attempt to use the last known position, if available and will be used instead of waiting for a full GPS fix. If you see "GPS Last" on the retrieving image screen or the widget times out while showing "Waiting on Position", you can start any activity which starts the GPS and wait for the GPS ready notification, then restart the widget.
-Oregon and Rino users. If the screen orientation changes after you have started the widget, the display could look odd. If that happens, then just return the device to the orientation when the widget was started.
Known coverage areas: AerisWeather has radar coverage only in US, Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, UK, Ireland, Northern France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg. Satellite images have global coverage. Use the settings to pick your data source and image type if using AerisWeather. RainViewer does add significant coverage options, so chances are if you don't have coverage in your area with one of these two option, chances are there is not an available radar in your area.
Privacy notice:
While this widget uses your device position and communicates with the internet in order to retrieve a relevant radar image for your view, none of the information generated is saved by the application. This widget makes use of an application specific unique identifier and information on the device type in order to facilitate a trial/paid subscription service. All device information collected is only used to validate application subscription status.
